This sounds like the perfect thing for New Years and imagine how your home will smell - heavenly! If making a 1/2 batch, I see no reason this couldn't be made in a slow cooker. From our local television news station, WCTV. Submitted by Chef Kevin Keating of Kesier University.

3/4 cup sugar
1 quart apple juice
1 quart apple cider
1 pint cranberry juice
1 teaspoon aromatic bitters
1 cup rum
2 cinnamon sticks
1 teaspoon whole allspice
1 orange
6 cloves

Steps:

  • Dissolve the sugar in the juices and warm over medium heat.
  • Add the bitters and the rum and simmer for 15 minutes.
  • Reduce heat.
  • Stud the orange with the allspice and cloves add to the liquid with the cinnamon and steep for 4 hours. Do not boil.

I have not tried this recipe. I got this recipe from Toast To Life. I plan to use Splenda for the sugar.

2 quarts apple cider
2 cups orange juice
2 cups pineapple juice
1 cup lemon juice
1 teaspoon whole cloves
1 cinnamon stick
sugar or honey

Steps:

  • Mix cider, orange juice, pineapple juice, lemon juice, cloves, cinnamon stick and sugar or honey; simmer for half hour.
  • Serve directly from the pan, or strain and put in a coffeepot or teapot with insulated handle, or keep hot in a crockpot on low temperature.
  • Stores well in the refrigerator.
