This is my improved version of the "Best-Ever Chocolate Chip Cookies" recipe card I received in the mail years ago. Now they really are the best! *I first made these when I was younger and loved very sweet cookies...now I agree with some reviews, they are too sweet so am adjusting the sugar.

DRIED CRANBERRY-WALNUT OATMEAL COOKIES
This is the best cranberry oatmeal cookie I've ever tasted. Slightly crisp on the outside, but oh so chewy on the inside. I can't believe it hasn't been posted yet! It's from the Crisco site. Note: If you use old-fashioned oats, the cookies will come out crisper and less moist; If you use quick oats, the cookies will be chewier and more moist. Also, bake until cookies are *just* set, where the center of the cookie still looks a little wet.

BLACK WALNUT OATMEAL COOKIES
I got this recipe from my daughter, Amy Herald, another one of the great cooks here on JAP. I modified it slightly by the addition of black walnut flavoring and black walnuts and omitting the raisins because I didn't have any. The result was an outstanding soft cookie that's not too sweet and perfect for the cooler Fall days...

ORANGE ZESTED CRANBERRY AND WALNUT OATMEAL COOKIES
These cookies are fragrant, delicious and festive for the holiday season. Cranberry and orange is one of my favorite flavor combinations so this had to happen in my life. These are lovely with melted white chocolate drizzled across the top to dress them up but I frankly like them a bit better without. Easy peasy tasty...
