1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1-1/4 cups unsweetened apple juice
Sugar substitute equivalent to 4 teaspoons sugar

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan, combine the cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg and apple juice until smooth. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Remove from the heat; stir in sugar substitute.

Number Of Ingredients 6

4 cups unsweetened apple juice
1/2 cup sugar
1 medium Granny Smith apple, peeled, cored, diced
2 tablespoons raisins
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • Combine apple juice and sugar in heavy large saucepan. Bring to boil over medium-high heat, stirring until sugar dissolves. Boil 10 minutes. Add apple and raisins and boil until mixture is reduced to 1 1/2 cups, about 15 minutes longer. Stir in butter and cinnamon. (Can be prepared 1 day ahead. Cover and refrigerate. Rewarm over low heat until heated through.) Serve warm.

  • In a saucepan, combine brown sugar, cornstarch, allspice and nutmeg; mix well. Add juice or cider. Cook and stir over medium heat until syrup is bubbly and slightly thickened.
