GRANDMA'S HASH BROWN CASSEROLE

This recipe is a friend's grandma's recipe and is absolutely the best hash brown casserole I've ever had. Kentucky grandmas sure know how to cook!

1 (2 pound) package frozen hash brown potatoes, thawed
1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of chicken soup
2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
1 (8 ounce) container sour cream
½ cup melted butter
½ cup chopped onion
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 cup crushed cornflakes
½ cup melted butter

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Mix hash browns, cream of chicken soup, Cheddar cheese, sour cream, butter, onion, salt, and pepper together in a bowl. Arrange in a 9x13-inch baking dish. Sprinkle on top. Drizzle butter over the cornflakes.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until the sauce is bubbly and the top is golden brown, 1 to 1 1/2 hours.

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 cups uncooked egg noodles
1 cup cubed deli ham
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup condensed cream of celery soup, undiluted
1/3 cup 2% milk
1 teaspoon finely chopped onion
2 teaspoons butter, melted, divided
1/4 teaspoon poppy seeds
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon dried basil
3 tablespoons dry bread crumbs

Steps:

  • Cook noodles according to package directions. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, combine the ham, cheese, soup, milk, onion, 1 teaspoon butter, poppy seeds and seasonings. Drain noodles; add to ham mixture., Transfer to a 1-1/2-qt. baking dish coated with cooking spray. Combine bread crumbs and remaining butter; sprinkle over casserole. Bake, uncovered, at 325° for 30-35 minutes or until heated through.

3 medium diced onions
1 large diced green peppper
3 Tbsp crisco or (cooking oil)
1 lb ground beef
2 c diced tomatoes (use canned tomatoes)
2 c uncooked noodles
1 tsp chili powder
2 tsp salt and pepper
INGREDIENTS

Steps:

  • 1. Saute first three ingredients. Add ground beef and fry until mixture falls apart and is cooked completely. Stir in tomatoes, uncooked noodles, chili powder, salt & pepper. Pour into a buttered casserole dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.

  • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, saute cornflakes in 1/4 cup melted butter, and sprinkle the mixture over the top of the casserole.
  • Bake covered in preheated oven for 40 minutes.
