Not sure were the name came from. Probably because of the peas. My girlfriend used to make this & I loved it. Maybe you will! It's quick & easy.

1/4 cup margarine
1/4 cup flour
2 cups milk
1 (14 ounce) can salmon, drained & clear of all small bones
1 cup frozen peas
salt & pepper
2/3 cup onion

Steps:

  • Melt margarine in saucepan. Add flour and milk for your basic white sauce.
  • Then add your frozen peas & salmon`and onions.
  • Stir until creamy; salt & pepper to taste. Also if desired you can add some dill, garlic, or even bacon bites just to give that white sauce a little more flavor.
  • You can serve this over rice, toast or pasta--make it a meal!

My Mom made this for us every Friday, (Can you guess why?). I loved it & still do!! It went a long way with 3 kids!! I'm 59 now & I still make this for my self now, but it was a regular when my children were growing up. Hope you enjoy it as much as I still do!!

2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine
2 tablespoons flour
2 cups milk (ANY PERCENT IS FINE)
1 (6 ounce) can tuna in water (DRAINED)
1 (14 ounce) can peas (DRAINED)
salt & pepper
4 -6 slices buttered toast

Steps:

  • This recipe can be doubled.
  • Melt butter or margarine in sauce pan over medium heat.
  • Add flour & cook for 1 minute, (so you won't have flour taste).
  • Add milk & stir until thickened.
  • Add drained tuna, peas, salt & pepper.
  • And WA-LA, it's done!
  • Serfve over buttered toast!

This easy recipe is made with canned salmon and peas in a milk gravy. Serve on toast or saltine crackers for a quick tasty meal. Yummy!

3 cups whole milk
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 (14.75 ounce) cans salmon, drained and flaked
1 (15 ounce) can baby peas, drained
salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Place milk in a large saucepan over medium heat. Bring just to the boiling point, stirring constantly. Gradually whisk in the flour with a fork, and continue cooking and stirring until slightly thickened. Stir in the peas, and let the mixture heat back up to a simmer while stirring constantly. Mix in the salmon, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Continue cooking and stirring until thick and heated through. Serve over saltine crackers or toast.

Tuna, macaroni, creamy soup, cheese and fried onions are all you need to make this super easy tuna casserole that I learned from my roommate. It's great as leftovers, too.

3 cups cooked macaroni
1 (5 ounce) can tuna, drained
1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of chicken soup
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1 ½ cups French fried onions

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • In a 9x13-inch baking dish, combine the macaroni, tuna, and soup. Mix well, and then top with cheese.
  • Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for about 25 minutes, or until bubbly. Sprinkle with fried onions, and bake for another 5 minutes. Serve hot.

This is a recipe my entire family loves! It's requested at least once a week and for Birthday suppers. The recipe came from the mother of one of my childhood friends, who made some of the best food. If I'm making a double batch, I make it with cream of chicken and celery soups together.

10 1/2 ounces cream of chicken soup
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup milk
1/2 cup diced yellow onion
1/2 cup diced celery
6 ounces albacore tuna
6 ounces cooked egg noodles
1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
salt and pepper

Steps:

  • Mix the cream of chicken, mayonnaise and milk together in a large bowl.
  • Add the diced celery and onion.
  • Fold in the tuna, followed by the cooked egg noodles and shredded cheddar cheese.
  • Salt and pepper to your taste.
  • Place in a casserole dish. Cook at 375 degrees for about 40-45 minutes, just until the top starts to brown.

My Oldest niece Erica Adams gave this to me and I forgot about it until we were talking about my running out of casserole ideas. This is one of her family favorites, and I have joined the club. 8 oz elbow macaroni, cooked
1 lb ground beef
1 can(s) baby/early peas
1 can(s) cream of chicken or mushroom soup
8 oz sharp cheddar cheese
16 oz tomato sauce
1 Tbsp house seasoning

Steps:

  • 1. cook macaroni 2 min. short of suggested time since it will be baked later
  • 2. Brown ground beef, drain
  • 3. mix together can of soup and beef along with house seasoning
  • 4. lightly spray pan (9" square or 9x11) and put 1/2 of macaroni on bottom.
  • 5. Next layer 1/2 of meat mixture and gently spread over macaroni.
  • 6. Next sprinkle 1/2 of baby peas over mixture
  • 7. Drizzle 1/2 of tomato sauce
  • 8. Sprinkle with 1/2 of cheese. We like a lot of cheese so we do add a lot
  • 9. Repeat layers ending with the cheese.
  • 10. Bake at 350 for 1 hr. Let rest 10 min before digging in. Serve with salad and crusty bread or fresh rolls
  • 11. house seasoning; 3/4 c sea salt, 1/4 c restaurant black pepper and 1/4 c garlic powder (based on Paula Deen's recipe)
