My Mom made this recipe often. She worked at O.U. food an nutrition.department. She thought people to cook food on a budget that was good and nutritious This is one of her recipes that I made my way.

Number Of Ingredients 14

1 pound(s) lean ground beef
1 package(s) taco seasoning
2/3 cup(s) water
1 - head iceburg lettuce chopped into bite size pieces
1 - red bell pepper chopped
1 - green bell pepper chopped
1/2 cup(s) sliced blacj olives
1 can(s) red kidney beans drained and rinsed
1 cup(s) diced tomatoes
1/4 cup(s) green onions sliced thin
1 cup(s) shredded cheddar cheese
1 -10 ounce(s) bag corn chips or nocho doretoes
1=16 ounce(s) catalina dressing
- sour cream

Steps:

  • Brown ground beef until no pink remains drain any fat.
  • Stir in the taco season packet and add water , simmer until thickens about 5 minutes. Set aside to cool.
  • In a large bowl combine lettuce, peppers, black olives pinto beans or red kidney beans tomatoes and onions.
  • Top with seasoning and cooled ground beef.
  • Slightly crush the chips and sprinkle on top drizzle with Catalina dressing and toss to coat evenly.
  • Garnish with sour cream and additional green onions.
  • Serve Immediately.

My mother made this growing up, and I loved eating it during the summer time, for a nice cold dinner. It's ten times better the next day~! Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 pound(s) of ground beef or ground turkey
1 large head of lettuce chopped
4 large tomatoes chopped and diced
1 medium diced onion
16 ounce(s) sour cream
1 can(s) black sliced olives
2 package(s) mild taco seasoning
1 large bag of taco flavored doritos
- salsa (optional)
2 cup(s) sherded taco cheese

Steps:

  • cook beef/turkey, till completely done, drain off grease, add one of the packets of taco seasoning according to package directions. Add the other taco seasoning packet to the container of sour cream.
  • In an 9x13 pan, spread out the sour cream mixture on the bottom of the pan, layer beef, onion, black olives, tomatoes and then lettuce, and cheese. cover and place in fridge. (best if let set over night)
  • Once ready to serve, Crush a handful of Doritos onto a plate, and scoop taco salad on top of chips. add salsa (optional) and Enjoy!!!!!! Hope you like it as much as we do :)
