1 cup softened Butter (We use Salted Sweet Cream Butter)
1 packet of Starbucks Instant French Roast Coffee
1 teaspoon Hot Water
1/2 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
1 /8 cup Cocoa Powder
1 pound (4 cups) of Powdered Sugar

Steps:

  • Dissolve 1 packet of Starbucks French Roast Instant Coffee in 1 teaspoon of very hot water. Allow to cool.
  • Add softened Butter to a mixer.
  • Add cooled coffee mixture and vanilla to mixer.
  • Mix butter, coffee and vanilla.
  • Mix Cocoa Powder and Powdered Sugar.
  • Add Cocoa/Powered Sugar a cup at a time and continue to mix until sugar is incorporated.

4 cups powdered sugar
3/4 cup cocoa powder
4 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
pinch salt
3 teaspoons instant coffee powder

Steps:

  • In the bowl of your mixer beat the butter on medium speed until nice and creamy.
  • Turn the mixer down to the lowest setting and slowly incorporate the powdered sugar and cocoa powder into the butter.
  • Once you have added all the sugar to the mix add the heavy cream, vanilla, salt and instant coffee powder.
  • Turn the mixer up to medium-high speed and continue mixing for 10 minutes until light and fluffy.

3 cups powdered sugar
4 tablespoons cocoa powder
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 tablespoons instant coffee, dissolved in a splash of hot water

Steps:

  • In your mixer, beat the softened butter with the powdered sugar until it is creamy.
  • Add in the cocoa powder, vanilla extract & coffee.
  • Beat with the mixer until it's nice and fluffy (about a minute or 2)
  • This makes a perfectly spreadable frosting. The nice thing about it is that you can put it in the fridge to make it a little more firm if you would like.

My Mom made this frosting all my life, it is so easy and tastes so good, but I don't see it any where in the listings! I have a version of it a 1960 Good Housekeeping Cookbook, but that its much older than that!

6 tablespoons bakers cocoa powder or 2 baking chocolate squares
6 tablespoons hot coffee
6 tablespoons margarine or 6 tablespoons peanut butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 cups confectioners' sugar (powdered)

Steps:

  • Combine cocoa and coffee, add butter and vanilla, beat until smooth. Add sugar gradually until spreading consistency.
  • With peanut butter and block chocolate, melt chocolate and peanut butter together carefully [30 sec at a time] add vanilla and coffee and mix until smooth. Add sugar gradually until spreading consistency.
  • Makes enough to frost an 11in sheet cake in the pan, double for a layer cake.

My family LOVES this frosting. It's one of their favorites. The key is using leftover coffee and the food processor. The food processor makes the frosting taste like fudge candy...yum!

1 stick(s) unsalted butter
2/3 cup(s) hershey's cocoa powder
1 box(es) (1 pound) powdered sugar
2 teaspoon(s) vanilla
1/4 cup(s) cold coffee

Steps:

  • Using a food processor, cream the stick of butter. Add the cocoa and pulse until combined. Scrape down sides and then add the powdered sugar, vanilla and coffee.
  • Scrape down the sides and add more coffee a tablespoon at a time, if needed, to produce a frosting that's of spreadable consistency (careful to not make it too juicy).
  • Makes enough frosting to frost one cake or 24 cupcakes.
