Number Of Ingredients 11

1/3 cup butter or 1/3 cup margarine, softened
3 ounces cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg yolk
2 teaspoons almond extract
2 teaspoons orange juice
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
5 cups sweetened flaked coconut, divided
1 (10 ounce) bag Hershey chocolate kisses

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, beat the butter, cream cheese and sugar.
  • Blend well, then add egg yolk, almond extract and orange juice; beat mixture well.
  • Stir together the flour, baking powder and salt.
  • Gradually add to the butter mixture and beat until well blended.
  • Stir in 3 cups of the coconut; cover mixture and chill for 1 hour, or until firm to handle.
  • Unwrap the kisses while chilling and heat oven to 350°.
  • Form dough into 1-inch balls; roll them in remaining coconut.
  • Place them on a ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes until lightly browned.
  • Remove from the oven and quickly press a kiss into each center.
  • Let cool 1 minute, then transfer to wire rack to cool completely.

3 c fast and festive cookie mix
1 c coconut
1/3 c finely chopped maraschino cherries, well drained
2 tsp almond extract
1 large egg
36 chocolate candy kisses

Steps:

  • 1. Grease cookie sheets. In large bowl combine cookie mix, coconut, cherries, almond extract and egg. Mix at low speed until well blended and dough forms. Cover with plastic wrap and chill for a minimum of 1 hour.
  • 2. Heat the oven to 375 degrees F. Shape the dough into 1" balls and place them 2" apart on the cookie sheet. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until set and the edges are light golden brown.
  • 3. Immediately press a chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie. Remove the cookies from the cookie sheet and cool complete on racks. Makes 3 dozen cookies.

2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon table salt
2/3 cups butter, softened
6 ounce cream cheese, softened
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
2 egg yolks
1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon juice from a fresh orange
10 cups sweetened flaked coconut, divided in to 6 cup and 4 cup portions
1 bag hershey kisses

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl, sift flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside. In the bowl of an electric mixer, beat the butter, cream cheese, and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg yolks, vanilla and orange juice and beat till smooth. In 1 cup increments, mix flour in to the butter mixture. Add the 6 cups flaked coconut and beat to combine. Refrigerate dough for 1 hour. While dough is chilling, remove wrappers from the Kisses. Preheat oven to 350. One at a time, scoop dough into 1.5" balls (about the size of a large walnut, roll between your palms, then roll in the bowl of remaining coconut (4 cups). Arrange on an ungreased baking sheet, at least an inch apart (cookies will spread slightly). A standard cookie sheet should accommodate a dozen cookies at a time. Bake 12-14 minutes, until the cookies puff and are very lightly browned. Remove from oven. Immediately press one Kiss into each cookie. Return pan to oven and bake for an additional minute. Remove pan from oven and cool on a rack for 10 minutes. With a thin spatula, gently move cookies on to a rack to finish cooling.

Stir together flour, baking powder and salt; gradually add to butter mixture, beating until well blended. Stir in 3 cups coconut. Cover; refridgerate 1 hour or until firm enough to handle. Remove wrappers from chocolates. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Shape dough into 1-inch balls; roll balls in remaining 2 cups coconut. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove from oven; immediately press chocolate on top of each cookie. Cool 1 minute; carefully remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely.

  • 1.Mix flour, baking poser and salt and half the coconut in a bowl. 2.In a second bowl, beat butter, cream cheese, sugar, egg yolks, vanilla and orange juice. 3.Combine well the two mixtures. Refrigerate for an hour. 4.preheat oven to 350F. 5.Make 2-inch balls from the dough and roll it in the rest of the coconut. Make sure it is completely covered. 6.Place it on a baking pan and bake for about 15 minutes. 7.Once taken out of the oven, when it is hot - stick a Hershey Kiss into each cookie. 8.Bake again for about 1 minute.
