Baked Beans with Ground Beef image

Baked Beans with Ground Beef is a Southern Baked Bean Casserole using pork and beans, kidney beans and hamburger in an classic baked bean sauce.

1 pound ground beef
1 ounce envelope dry onion soup mix
32 ounces pork and beans, do not drain
15.5 ounces kidney beans, drained
1 cup ketchup (catsup)
1/2 cup cold water
2 Tablespoons mustard
2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Spray a 2 1/2 quart baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Brown ground beef; add the dry onion soup mix during the browning process. Drain excess grease if needed.
  • To the ground beef, add all remaining ingredients and stir.
  • Pour into prepared dish.
  • Bake for 30 - 45 minutes or until bubbly and hot.

This recipe for baked beans is always a hit. They are extra hearty because of the ground beef and the homemade barbecue sauce has just the right balance of flavors. Not too tangy, not too sweet. Just delicious.

1 pound ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
1 green bell pepper, seeded and chopped
1 can (16 ounce size) pork and beans
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 cup ketchup
1 dash Worcestershire sauce
1 cup brown sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef, onion, and bell pepper. Cook, stirring frequently, until the beef is browned and the vegetables are soft. Drain off any excess grease. Add the pork and beans, mustard, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar to the skillet. Mix well. Transfer the mixture to a large baking dish (or two smaller ones). Place in the oven and bake at 350 degrees F for 1 hour or until bubbly in the middle.

1 lb ground beef
1 1/2 medium onions, chopped coarse
1 cup ketchup
2 teaspoons prepared mustard
4 tablespoons vinegar
4 tablespoons dark brown sugar
2 teaspoons chili powder
2 (16 ounce) cans pork and beans

Steps:

  • Carmalize onions. Brown ground beef in the onions. Drain fat.
  • Add all remaining ingredients and stir well. Simmer 5 minutes. Transfer to ungreased 2 quart casserole dish.
  • Bake uncovered at 350 degrees.

2 packages (17 ounces each) Hawaiian sweet rolls
4 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
2 pounds ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
1 can (14-1/2 ounces) diced tomatoes with garlic and onion, drained
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
3/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon pepper
24 bacon strips, cooked and crumbled
GLAZE:
1 cup butter, cubed
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
4 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons sesame seeds

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. Without separating rolls, cut each package of rolls horizontally in half; arrange bottom halves in 2 greased 13x9-in. baking pans. Sprinkle each pan of rolls with 1 cup cheese. Bake until cheese is melted, 3-5 minutes., In a large skillet, cook beef and onion over medium heat until beef is no longer pink and onion is tender, breaking beef into crumbles, 6-8 minutes; drain. Stir in tomatoes, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Cook and stir until combined, 1-2 minutes., Spoon beef mixture evenly over rolls; sprinkle with remaining cheese. Top with bacon. Replace tops. For glaze, in a microwave-safe bowl, combine butter, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce and mustard. Microwave, covered, on high until butter is melted, stirring occasionally. Pour over rolls; sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake, uncovered, until golden brown and heated through, 20-25 minutes. Freeze option: Cover and freeze unbaked sandwiches; prepare and freeze glaze. To use, partially thaw in refrigerator overnight. Remove from refrigerator 30 minutes before baking. Preheat oven to 350°. Pour glaze over buns and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake sandwiches as directed, increasing time by 10-15 minutes, until cheese is melted and a thermometer inserted in center reads 165°.

My Mom used to make this recipe, and at the time, I wanted no part of a green pepper. But later when my sister made it for picnics and other gatherings, I tried it and loved it!

1 small green pepper, chopped fine
3 can(s) (16 oz ea) plain baked beans
2/3 cup(s) brown sugar
2 teaspoon(s) mustard
2 tablespoon(s) worchestershire sauce
1/2 cup(s) ketchup

Steps:

  • Place the ground beef, onions, and peppers in a large pan and brown, stirring often and breaking up beef into small bits. Remove from heat and drain.
  • Add the beans and remaining ingredients and stir together for 2-3 minutes until well blended.
  • Pour mixture into a baking dish and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
