¼ pound bacon
1 (20 ounce) package ground turkey
½ cup bread crumbs
½ cup shredded Cheddar cheese
⅓ cup finely chopped yellow onion
1 egg, beaten
1 jalapeno pepper, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
¼ teaspoon ground cumin
salt and ground black pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Place bacon in a large skillet and cook over medium-high heat, turning occasionally, until evenly browned, about 10 minutes; drain and cool on a plate lined with paper towels. Crumble bacon.
  • Mix bacon, turkey, bread crumbs, Cheddar cheese, yellow onion, egg, jalapeno pepper, garlic, cumin, salt, and pepper together in a bowl; shape mixture into eight 1/4-pound patties.
  • Preheat an outdoor grill for medium-high heat and lightly oil the grate.
  • Cook the turkey burgers on the preheated grill until no longer pink in the center and the juices run clear, 7 to 10 minutes per side. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).

A spicy, flavorful, and moist turkey burger. This is my husband's favorite. It tastes delicious and I make it with extra lean ground turkey breast. The grated onion adds moisture as well as flavor to the turkey.

1 cup light mayonnaise
¼ cup coarse-grain mustard
¼ cup honey
1 tablespoon prepared horseradish
hot pepper sauce (e.g. Tabasco™) to taste
1 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
1 ¼ pounds ground turkey breast
½ large onion, grated
1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and minced
2 tablespoons barbeque sauce
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
¼ teaspoon liquid smoke flavoring
1 tablespoon steak seasoning
1 teaspoon dry mesquite flavored seasoning mix
1 tablespoon olive oil
½ large onion, sliced
5 hamburger buns, split

Steps:

  • Combine mayonnaise, mustard, honey, horseradish, hot pepper sauce, and cayenne pepper in a bowl. Cover and refrigerate.
  • Mix ground turkey, grated onion, jalapeno, barbeque sauce, Worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke, steak seasoning, and mesquite seasoning in a large bowl. Form into 5 patties.
  • Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Stir in the onion; cook and stir until the onion has softened and turned translucent, about 5 minutes. Reduce heat to medium-low, and continue cooking and stirring until the onion is very tender and dark brown, 15 to 20 minutes more.
  • Cook the patties in a medium skillet over medium heat, turning once, to an internal temperature of 180 degrees F (85 degrees C), about 6 minutes per side. Serve on buns topped with spicy sweet mayo and caramelized onions.

Finally, a moist delicious turkey burger! I cooked the vegetables before mixing them in, but they can just as easily be added raw. Also, don't worry if a lot of the cheese runs out; it is mostly used to add fat to the turkey to avoid the dry turkey burger many of us are used to.

10 slices turkey bacon (cut into small pieces)
1 lb ground turkey
1 jalapeno
2 stalks celery
2 green onions
1/2 green pepper (chopped)
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons stone ground mustard
salt (to taste)
pepper (to taste)
2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
4 slices cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • Fry bacon in skillet until crisp.
  • Set aside in a paper towel lined strainer to remove excess fat.
  • In a food processor or by hand chop the jalepeno, celery, onions, and green pepper.
  • (Optional) Spray the same skillet with non stick spray and cook the chopped veggies until tender.
  • Add veggies, bacon, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, pepper and Cheddar cheese to the ground turkey. Mix well.
  • Form into four patties.
  • Cook in a skillet (about 6 minutes per side).
  • Add cheese slice for the last three minutes.
  • Serve on a toasted bun (no condiments needed).

Extra-virgin olive oil, for drizzling plus 1 tablespoon
8 slices turkey bacon
2 1/2 pounds ground turkey breast
2 green onions, finely chopped
A handful cilantro, leaves finely chopped
1 tablespoon chipotle chili powder
1 1/2 teaspoons smoked sweet paprika
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
2 teaspoons zest and the juice of 2 limes
1 red onion, chopped
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 (15-ounce) can fire-roasted diced tomatoes, lightly drained
2 rounded tablespoon grainy mustard
8 slices pepper jack cheese, from the deli counter
4 large sandwich size English muffins, lightly toasted

Steps:

  • Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium to medium-high heat and add the turkey bacon. Cook until crisp, 3 minutes on each side, remove to plate.
  • While the bacon cooks, combine the turkey breast, green onions, cilantro, chipotle, paprika, salt and pepper, lime zest and juice. Mix the turkey breast with seasonings and form 4 sections, from each, 2 patties. Place the first 4 patties in the pan; cook 3 to 4 minutes on each side. Remove from the skillet and place onto a plate and loosely cover with foil to keep warm
  • While the first batch of burgers cook heat 1 tablespoon oil in a sauce pot over medium-high heat. Add onions and soften 3 to 4 minutes, season with salt and pepper and then add Worcestershire, brown sugar, tomatoes, and mustard. Let the sauce cook on low.
  • Add the second batch of burgers to the skillet and cook 3 to 4 minutes on each side. Top with a slice of cheese and 2 pieces bacon. Tent skillet with foil and cook on low to moderate heat to melt cheese, about 1 minute.
  • Place burgers on muffin bottoms. Top with bacon double cheese burgers, fire roasted tomato sauce and English muffin top.

1/2 cup shredded reduced-fat cheddar cheese
5 slices bacon (cooked and crumbled)
1 beef bouillon cube
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon onion powder

Steps:

  • Preheat grillpan or grill.
