Steps:
- In a skillet over medium-high heat, brown ground beef with the onions. Be sure to break up clumps as much as possible. Put the mixture in a slow cooker.
- Add remaining ingredients and stir together. Cover and cook on high setting for 4 hours or on low for 7 to 8 hours.
- Ladle into bowls and serve with your favorite chili fixings.

- In a Dutch oven, heat oil and butter over medium-high heat. Add onion; cook and stir 5-7 minutes or until tender. Add garlic; cook 1 minute longer., Stir in remaining ingredients; bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, 5 minutes. Remove bay leaf.

KELLY'S BUTTER BEAN CHILI
Steps:
- In a skillet carmelize chopped onions. Add garlic. Reduce heat and set aside. In the same skillet brown the lean ground beef and drain. In a large pot combine onion mixture and ground beef. Add green chiles, and green pepper. Cook on medium heat for 5 min. Add tomato sauce, diced whole tomatoes, chili powder, cumin, cayenne pepper, and brown sugar. Let simmer for 10 min. Add rinsed beans and simmer for 30 min. Top with a sprinkle of cheddar cheese and ENJOY!
