ITALIAN SODAS
Having an Italian themed dinner party? Play some Italian music, stick some candles in old wine bottles, and let your guests make their own Italian sodas. My kids really like these. I buy my Torani Syrup at a store called World Market - they have many flavors and even sugar-free types. The flavor combinations are endless. Under directions I've listed a few of our favorite flavor combinations. Also, Torani syrup is so versatile for other things; drizzle some on a dessert plate, over cheesecake, lace a bowl of ice cream, or mix with some whipping cream for a new flavor. Mix some strawberry flavor with lemonade. Ok, I'll stop now.

HOMEMADE ITALIAN CREAM SODAS
This is a fairly standard recipe found on several websites for making Italian Cream Sodas at home. Making them yourself is far less expensive than buying them at your local mall or coffee hut. You can use any flavor of Torani (or similar brand) syrup that's used for flavoring coffee and is sold in most markets and large chain stores like Target and Wal-Mart. Experiment, and find your favorite flavor. I like a combo of raspberry and vanilla that was suggested by the Butter With Slice Of Bread site. The possibilities are endless! One bottle of Torani syrup makes about 14 Italian Cream Sodas.

Steps:
- 1. Place ice cubes in a Collins glass (or tall tumbler). Pour the club soda over the ice.
- 2. Add the flavored syrup to the glass, and stir a few times.
- 3. Just before serving, add the half & half to the glass but don't stir. Let the cream slowly blend into the soda, creating a swirled pattern. (This is for effect, you will stir the soda before drinking.)
- 4. Add a froth of whipped cream on top, then add a cherry, and serve with a straw. Stir the soda with the straw before drinking.
