1 lb hot Italian sausage or 1 lb mild Italian sausage, casings removed
2 green peppers or 2 yellow peppers, diced
1 1/2 cups pasta sauce, your favorite
1 1/2 cups mozzarella cheese or 1 1/2 cups provolone cheese, grated
2 panini buns, split in half

Steps:

  • Heat the broiler.
  • Sauté sausage on medium high heat breaking them up as you go. Cook until no longer pink, about 8-10 minute.
  • Drain on paper towel.
  • Discard fat from pan.
  • In same pan over medium heat cook peppers for 10 minutes or until brown edges form.
  • Return sausage to pan along with the sauce and simmer until almost all the liquid has evaporated.
  • Transfer into bowl and add 1/2 cup of the cheese.
  • Place the bun halves on broiler pan.
  • Divide and spread the sausage mixture on the halves.
  • Sprinkle with remaining cheese.
  • Broil until bubbling and bread is crisp.

1 lb Italian sausage
1 large onion, chopped
24 ounces pasta sauce
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon italian seasoning
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 cup mozzarella cheese
2 hoagie rolls, split

Steps:

  • Remove casings from sausage. Crumble and brown in a large skillet. Drain and set aside.
  • Sautee onion in same skillet. Add tomato pasta sauce, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Add sausage. Cover and cook for 10 minutes.
  • Place split hoagie rolls each on a plate. Spoon sausage-tomato mixture over roll halves. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese. Place under hot broiler until cheese melts (approximately 1 minutes).
  • Enjoy!

1 1/4 cups Original Bisquick™ mix
1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
2 tablespoons very hot water
1/2 lb bulk spicy Italian pork sausage
1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
1 cup Alfredo pasta sauce (from 16-oz jar)
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (4 oz)
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup grape tomatoes, cut in half
2 tablespoons fresh basil leaves, cut into strips

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 400°F. Lightly spray bottom of 8-inch square (2-quart) baking dish with cooking spray. In medium bowl, stir Bisquick mix, butter and water until dough forms. Press dough in bottom of pan.
  • In 10-inch skillet, cook sausage and bell pepper over medium-high heat 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until sausage is no longer pink; drain if necessary. Spread sausage mixture over crust; spread pasta sauce over sausage. Sprinkle with cheeses.
  • Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until mixture is bubbly around edges and cheese is lightly browned. Sprinkle tomatoes and basil over top.
