These easy bbq chipped ham sandwiches are a classic Pittsburgh dish made by home cooks for picnics, everyday dinners, and group functions.

1 pound of Chipped Chopped Ham
1/4 cup Brown Sugar
1.5 cup Ketchup (Heinz is best)
1/4 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
1 tablespoon Worchestershire sauce
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
salt and pepper to taste
1 tablespoon onion powder

Steps:

  • Make a bbq sauce by combining the brown sugar, ketchup, vinegar, Worchestershire sauce, salt, pepper, mustard, and onion powder together in a large bowl.
  • Stir the chipped chopped ham in with the sauce.
  • Heat the ham and barbecue sauce on the stove in a large skillet or pan at medium heat until warmed through about 15-20 minutes.
  • Keep warm in a slow cooker until ready to serve.
  • Serve on Kaiser rolls.

Barbequed ham sandwiches are a quick solution to dinner. The barbeque sauce is simple and made from scratch on the stove top.

1 cup ketchup
1 cup water
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon cider vinegar
¼ cup sweet pickle relish
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 pinch ground black pepper
1 pinch garlic salt
½ teaspoon liquid smoke flavoring
1 pound chipped ham
6 hamburger buns

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan, combine the ketchup, water, brown sugar, cider vinegar, sweet pickle relish and Worcestershire sauce. Season with cinnamon, black pepper, garlic salt and liquid smoke. Bring to a simmer over low heat and simmer for 20 minutes.
  • Shred the ham and stir into the mixture. Simmer longer if desired, then serve hot on hamburger buns. The mixture can also be frozen.
