IOWA CHOCOLATE CAKE
Steps:
- Cover shortening and sugar with boiling water. Add flour, cocoa, baking soda, salt, eggs and vanilla. And blend well. Bake at 375 degrees, 25-30 minutes in a 13x9-inch pan. Batter is thin. Test for doneness with toothpick. Makes 4-6 servings.

Steps:
- Put shortening and sugar in mixing bowl and pour over the boiling water. Stir and mix.
- Sift dry ingredients twice and add to hot mixture.
- Then add eggs and vanilla. Batter will be thin.
- Bake in cake pan at 350 for about 25-30 minutes. A glass pan works best.
- Let cool and frost with chocolate frosting!
