Yet another recipe from the Mixologist son. The sheet he gave me describes this drink as " Pure Pucker, made with Sweet Texas Red Grapefruit (or regular for more tartness) and refreshingly ready for a Grapefruit Martini or other summer cooler.

1 large pink grapefruit, unpeeled and sliced
1 (750 ml) bottle good quality vodka

Steps:

  • Use a large glass container (at least 1.5 liters) with an airtight lid.
  • Use good quality vodka and keep your original bottle as you'll need it to strain the infused mixture into.
  • Place the grapefruit slices in the glass container, add vodka and cap tightly.
  • Let stand at room temperature for one week, shaking gently every couple of days.
  • Taste for the preferred flavour intensity, allownig it to infuse for up to one more week if needed. If you want - you can do up to two more weeks but it will start to get bitter.
  • Strain the infused vodka into the original bottle. Cap tightly, label and refrigerate until ready to serve.

The rosemary-infused vodka in this drink may sound fancy, but it couldn't be easier to make. Start it a day before you want to make the drink.

Yield Makes one cocktail

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 (750ml) bottle vodka
2 large rosemary sprigs
1 1/2 ounces rosemary-infused vodka
1/2 ounce simple syrup
1/2 ounce fresh ruby red grapefruit juice
1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice
Rosemary sprig, for serving

Steps:

  • Place rosemary sprigs in a 1-qt. resealable glass jar and pour in vodka (reserving bottle). Let sit at room temperature for 24 hours. Taste, and if desired rosemary flavor is present, remove the rosemary sprigs and pour back into vodka bottle, or infuse for an additional 24 hours if more flavor is desired.
  • In a cocktail shaker, combine rosemary-infused vodka, simple syrup, grapefruit juice, and lemon juice. Add ice and shake. Strain into an ice-filled rocks glass and garnish with rosemary sprig.

1 lime, cut into circles
1 medium red grapefruit, cut into circles
1 valencia orange, cut into circles
1/2 cup sugar syrup
750 ml vodka

Steps:

  • Add cut up fruit and simple sugar to infusion jar with Vodka. Let it infuse for several days. No longer than two weeks or it will turn bitter.
  • To make Simple Syrup:Melt 1 cup Sugar with 1/2 Cup of Water.
