Number Of Ingredients 14

1.5 lbs Ground Beef
1/8 c Ketchup
1 tsp Hot Sauce
½ Medium Onion Minced (Keep the other half as a condiment for the Hot Dogs)
1 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Black Pepper
1 tsp Onion Powder
½ tsp Worcestershire Sauce
¼ c Beer (optional)
3-4 c Water
½ tsp Paprika
Pinch Sugar
2 tbs Chili Powder

Steps:

  • Cover the ground beef with water and break up the meat completely. Next, add the beer (if using), diced onion, Worcestershire, ketchup, hot sauce sauce and spices and start on Medium High to bring to a rapid boil.
  • Reduce and simmer. You can cook it down faster if needed on a higher temperature, just until most water is reduced. Stir occasionally.
  • When water is reduced, add tomato paste to thicken. Stir to incorporate.
  • Serve as a hot dog topping.
  • Leftover chili sauce freezes well.

Time 13m

Number Of Ingredients 14

2 Tbs vegetable oil (olive oil works too)
1 lb ground beef
⅓ cup broth
4 oz tomato paste
½ cup ketchup
2 tsp chili powder
½ tsp salt
½ tsp pepper
1 tsp brown sugar
2 tsp onion powder
2 tsp garlic powder
1 tbs Worcestershire
1 Tbs fish sauce
1 Tbs cider vinegar

Steps:

  • In a large skillet on the stovetop over medium heat, pour the oil into the pan (if your ground beef is very lean, if it isn't, you can skip the oil part). Break up the ground beef as you remove it from the package into the pan with your fingers. Cook ground beef till just past pink breaking it into fine pieces with a potato masher.
  • Once the beef is just past pink, add all of the other ingredients and stir well. You can serve this immediately, but the flavor will deepen if you allow it to simmer for just a bit. This may mean that you need to add a little more of the stock to loosen the consistency.
  • Serve over grilled quality hot dogs with toasted buns.

HOT DOG CHILI- SOUTHERN STYLE

Hot Dog Chili- Southern Style image

Condiment- finer than regular chili. This came from sorta watching things when I was young, and in the South, every Sunday was relative get togethers at my Maw Maws house, which was next door. Ahh, what fond laid back memories! I kept playing around with what I remembered (she didn't use a glove) and came up with this concoction. And , please, don't forget the coleslaw and onions to go on your dogs!!!
