The smooth thick dressing is a nice blend of tangy and sweet, with flavor reminiscent of a Western dressing. I got this recipe years ago when I worked as a cook in a high school cafeteria.-Joan Dones, Las Vegas, Nevada

3/4 cup honey
1/3 cup ketchup
1/3 cup cider vinegar
1/3 cup chopped onion
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon celery seed
3/4 cup vegetable oil

Steps:

  • In a blender or food processor, combine the first eight ingredients; cover and process until blended. While processing, add oil in a steady stream. Process until thickened. Store in the refrigerator.

1/2 cup ketchup (Heinz)
1/2 cup red wine vinegar
1/2 cup honey

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

  • Mix all ingredients, except canola oil, together. With wire whisk, slowly whisk in canola oil until well blended.

1/2 cup ketchup
1/2 cup Miracle Whip
1/2 cup honey
2 tablespoons vinegar
1 tablespoon salad oil (I use grape seed)
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon celery seed
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder

Steps:

  • Mix all ingredients as listed in a small bowl, or in blender.
  • Chill before using, and Enjoy!
  • If you prefer, try substituting fresh onion and garlic for the powdered, to taste.

1/2 cup of honey French dressing
1/4 cup olive oil
1 tablespoon white vinegar
2 chopped garlic cloves

Steps:

  • Wash Swiss Chard thoroughly and drain.
  • Trim off discolored stems and stem tips.
  • Boil the chard for 15 minutes in salted water.
  • Drain vegetable completely.
  • Add olive oil, vinegar, and garlic to sautee pan.
  • Heat pan on medium heat setting for 1 minute.
  • Add chard to saute pan.

1/4 cup red wine vinegar
1/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup olive oil
2 teaspoons honey or 2 teaspoons maple syrup
1 teaspoon paprika
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon dried mustard
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4-1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
6 -8 drops Tabasco sauce

Steps:

  • Whisk together ingredients in a small bowl or measuring cup.
  • Chill (overnight is best) to allow flavors to combine.
