Time 5m

Yield 6-8 cups

Number Of Ingredients 3

1/3 cup popcorn
2 -3 tablespoons melted butter
salt

Steps:

  • Pour kernels into a small paper bag (standard lunch size is fine) and fold the top of the bag over twice to close (each fold should be 1/2 inch deep; remember the kernals need room to pop).
  • Seal the bag with 2 staples placed 2 to 3 inches apart. (Editor's Note: Using metal staples in a microwave can be hazardous, please consider an alternate method).
  • Place bag in microwave on carousel. Cook on high 2-3 minutes, or until the pops are 5 seconds apart. Pour in melted butter and salt and shake the bag to distribute.

HOMEMADE MICROWAVE POPCORN AND SEASONING

Homemade microwave Popcorn and seasoning image

I love popcorn. Especially when it has flavor. So I make seasonings in spice shakers to put in individual bowls of popcorn so everyone can have a flavor they want. It makes a wonderful addition to a gift basket of microwave popcorn. I use saved spice jars for these seasonings. Also a link to making your own microwave popcorn for about 10 cents a bag

Just found this on pinterest and gave it a try. It works like a charm and there are no chemicals like there is with the stuff you buy at the store.

Number Of Ingredients 2

1/2 cup(s) unpopped popcorn
1 - brown paper bag

Steps:

  • Step 1. Find a brown paper bag. Any will do. Step 2. Bag your popcorn. Add a 1/2 cup scoop of bulk popcorn kernels to your brown paper bag (a serving is about 1/4 cup but who are we kidding). Fold the bag over twice. Don't use staples to secure the bag - this might spark in your microwave. Step 3: Pop it in the microwave. Stick the popcorn bag into your microwave and set for 3 minutes on high (experiment a bit with this, as every microwave will vary). Do not leave the room! Stop the microwave when the popping slows to one to two pops per second, you do not have to wait for the 3 minutes to finish as you don't want to burn it.
  • Top as desired.
