Number Of Ingredients 12

1/2 lb butter, softened
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
3 cups old fashioned uncooked oats
1/2 cup ground flax seeds
1 cup raisins (optional)

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Beat together butter and sugars until creamy.
  • Add eggs and vanilla; beat well.
  • Add flour, flax, soda, cinnamon, salt and mix well.
  • stir in oats and raisins; mix well.
  • Drop by rounded tablespoonfulls onto ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Bake 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Cool 1 minute on cookie sheet; remove to a wire rack.

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 box yellow cake mix
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup butter softened
1/2 cup shortening
2 tablespoons water
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 egg
2 cups quick-cooking or old-fashioned oats

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375°F or 350°F if you are using dark or nonstick pans.
  • In a bowl, mix the cake mix, brown sugar, butter, shortening, water, cinnamon and egg together on medium for about 1 minute.
  • If adding any add ins, use a spoon to fold them in now.
  • Scoop the dough and place it on the ungreased cookie sheets and flatten them down slightly .
  • Bake the cookies for 9 to 12 minutes. The centers will be soft and then let cool for 5 minutes.
