- In a 3-qt. slow cooker, combine all ingredients. Cover and cook on high for 4-5 hours or until onion is tender.

- 1. For the broth Place the oil in a large pot. Saute the onion for 3 minutes. Add the garlic and saute another minute. Add the red wine and let most evaporate.
- 2. Add the chicken stock and bouillon. Add the ham hocks and remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil and reduce heat to medium low and simmer for 2 hours. Strain the broth and discard the solids.
- 3. Add butter to a pan and add the onion. Saute the onion until it is browned. Add the onion to the broth. Stir in cans of beans undrained. Add the corn and ham. Bring to a boil and reduce the heat and simmer 10 minutes. Season to taste with salt.
