DECADENT GREEN TEA SLUSHIE

Decadent Green Tea Slushie image

I devised this recipe while trying to find a cheaper substitute for Thai bubble tea. It's best with jasmine green tea, but regular green tea works fine too.

GREEN TEA BERRY SMOOTHIE

Green Tea Berry Smoothie image

This is a wonderful, healthy smoothie from Delicious Living mag. Here's what they say: "When you absolutely need breakfast to go, try this super-powered smoothie. Green tea's antioxidants help prevent cancers, blocked arteries, and even tooth decay; flax provides healthy omega-3 fats; and berries offer fiber and vitamin C-all served up in a tasty, easy-to-carry form." I adjusted it a bit by adding more flax and some oat bran. My 4 yo loves it too! It's not too thick and not too thin, just right.

GREEN TEA AND BERRY SLUSHIE

Green Tea and Berry Slushie image

Woman's Day, June 2006. A super healthy drink, packed with lots of vitamins! Although not a very sweet drink, this slushie has just the right amount of a subtle hint of green tea. I brew the tea the night before then chill until the next morning. Use any combination of berries-raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, etc.

Time 5m

Yield 3 cups, 2 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 1/2 cups organic brewed green tea, chilled (read *NOTE)
2 cups frozen mixed berries, partially thawed
1/2 small banana, cut up into large chunks
1/2-1 tablespoon honey or 1/2-1 tablespoon agave nectar

Steps:

  • *NOTE: I used three tea bags of Traditional Medicinals brand Organic Green Tea with Ginger. The original recipe specified six tea bags and three full tablespoons of honey. I toned it down a little.
  • Brew the tea and let steep for 10 minutes; covered. Remove tea bags, allow tea to cool down then refrigerate.
  • Place all ingredients in a blender and process until smooth.
