GRAMMIE BEA'S SPECIAL VANILLA FROSTING

Grammie Bea's Special Vanilla Frosting image

This is absolutely "THE BEST" frosting in the world... It's an old fashioned recipe that my gram used for years on all her homemade cakes including Wacky, Spice, and her Raisin Cakes. It has been a favorite of my family for over 50 years, and will be passed down to my grandaughter(s), when and if I have some :) I lost this recipe at one point and was frantic, but found it again rummaging through my cookbooks... I was SO HAPPY!!! Try this one and see why... Enjoy!

CREAMY VANILLA FROSTING..." THE BEST"

Creamy Vanilla Frosting...

This frosting spreads and pipes smoothly. Make sure the butter is really soft so the frosting won't split when tinted. Please be sure to use real butter as you may not get ideal results if using substitutions. This frosting can be made ahead. Just cover and refrigerate for up to 24 hours; allowing to come to room temperature and beat until smooth before using.

GRAMMIE BEA'S CRISCO YELLOW CAKE

Grammie Bea's Crisco Yellow Cake image

My gram considered this to be her "BEST" yellow cake...It was WONDERFUL! Try it, you'll LOVE it! My gram used chocolate frosting lots of times, and then sprinkled chopped walnuts all over the top. Sometimes she would use Recipe #218589 instead... YUM! Keep in mind this is a "homemade" cake not a "box" cake. It has a heavy, moist texture a lot like Wacky Cake. Note: Don't over bake. Check cake at 30 mins. and every 5 mins. after, until a toothpick stuck in the middle of the cake comes out clean.

CREAMY VANILLA FROSTING

Creamy Vanilla Frosting image

This is the recipe that I use for the Cut out frosted butter cookies. This recipe is also in the Best Foods of Christmas cookbook. I always double this recipe so we have plenty of frosting to go around for everyone to decorate. I also divide the frosting into thirds. I'll take one bowl of frosting and add red food coloring to make it pink and add peppermint extract. In another bowl of frosting I'll add green food coloring for green frosting. In the other bowl of frosting I keep it white for white frosting. YEAH now for the FUN part.
