GINGER MINT MOSCOW MULE

3 ounces vodka
1 ounce (2 tablespoons) Ginger Mint Syrup, recipe follows
1/2 ounce fresh lime juice (from 1/2 lime)
Ice cubes
Club soda, for serving
Mint leaves, for garnish
Lime wedge, for garnish
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup water
3-inch piece of ginger, chopped (5 to 6 round slices)
1/2 cup mint leaves
Kosher salt

Steps:

  • Place the vodka, ginger mint syrup and lime juice in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake and strain into a glass filled with ice cubes. Top with club soda, garnish with mint leaves and the lime wedge before serving.
  • Place the sugar, water, ginger, mint and a pinch of salt into a small saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring until the sugar is dissolved. Remove from the heat and let steep for 20 to 30 minutes and strain once cooled. Alternatively, place the saucepan in a medium bowl filled with ice water and strain once cooled. Makes 6 to 8 servings.

8 sprigs fresh mint
1 small piece candied ginger (about 1 inch in diameter), thinly sliced
1/2 ounce Simple Syrup
1 ounce fresh lime juice (about 1 lime)
2 ounces gin (such as Plymouth or Tanqueray)
1 ounce ginger beer (such as Fentimans)
Garnish: fresh mint sprigs and candied ginger

Steps:

  • In cocktail shaker, muddle mint sprigs, candied ginger, simple syrup, and lime juice. Add gin, ginger beer, and ice, and shake vigorously. Fill highball glass with three or four large ice cubes. Pour in drink and garnish with mint and candied ginger.

1 1/2 ounces gin
1 ounce light agave syrup
Juice of 1/2 lime
2 ounces ginger beer

Steps:

  • Fill a cocktail glass (preferably a copper Moscow mule mug) with ice.
  • Muddle the mint leaves in the bottom of a cocktail shaker. Add the gin, agave and lime juice. Shake well. Strain into prepared cocktail glass, and top with the ginger beer. Serve immediately.
