GIANT BBQ RIB SANDWICH (TO FEED A CROWD) RECIPE BY TASTY

Giant BBQ Rib Sandwich (To Feed A Crowd) Recipe by Tasty image

Here's what you need: baby back ribs, paprika, pepper, brown sugar, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, chili powder, barbecue sauce, honey, bread, butter, sesame seed, large onions, fresh parsley

Provided by Alvin Zhou

Categories     Lunch

Yield 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 16

1 rack baby back ribs, membrane removed (this is essential for de-boning)
2 tablespoons paprika
1 tablespoon pepper
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 cup barbecue sauce
¼ cup honey
1 large loaf bread
4 tablespoons butter, melted
1 tablespoon sesame seed
2 large onions, sliced and caramelized
2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).
  • Lay the ribs on a long sheet of aluminum foil. Combine the paprika, pepper, brown sugar, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, and chili powder in a small bowl, then cover the ribs evenly on both sides, pressing the rub into any cracks and smoothing out any large lumps. Wrap the foil around the ribs, making sure they're completely sealed. It's important that the juices of the ribs stay inside the foil to keep the ribs moist during cooking. Use more sheets of foil if necessary.
  • Bake the ribs for 3-3½ hours, until tender. Unwrap the ribs carefully, then wiggle the bones out slowly. If you're having trouble removing the bones, use a knife to make small cuts in the meat to aid their removal. Preheat the broiler on your oven.
  • Combine the barbecue sauce and honey in a small bowl and brush both sides of the deboned slab of ribs generously, being sure to carefully handle the ribs since the meat will be super tender.
  • Broil the ribs for about 5 minutes until the glaze is bubbling and starting to brown.
  • Slice the bread loaf in half lengthwise, then butter both sides of the bread. Sprinkle sesame seeds on the outside of the bread, then toast under the broiler for a few minutes. Keep a careful eye on it as they will burn extremely quickly.
  • With two long spatulas or knives, carefully transfer the glazed ribs to the bottom bread half, then top with the caramelized onions, parsley, and the top half of bread. Cut into about 8 2-inch (5-cm) sandwiches, and serve.
  • Enjoy!

Just like your favorite Nutter Butter cookie -- only bigger and better! Invite all of the peanut butter fanatics in your life over to share.

Provided by Food Network Kitchen

Categories     dessert

Time 3h20m

Yield 12 servings

Number Of Ingredients 11

3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for rolling (see Cook's Note)
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 sticks (16 tablespoons) unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
1 1/2 cups smooth peanut butter
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups smooth peanut butter
1 1/2 sticks (12 tablespoons) unsalted butter, at room temperature
3 cups confectioners' sugar

Steps:

  • For the cookies: Stir together the flour and baking soda in a bowl. Cream the butter and both sugars on high speed in an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment until light, about 2 minutes. Add the peanut butter and beat until smooth. Add the eggs, one at a time, and beat until incorporated. Beat in the vanilla. Add the flour mixture and beat on low until just combined. Divide the dough in half, form into 2 rectangles, wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate until firm, about 1 hour.
  • Cut a 12-inch peanut shape out of parchment to use as a template. Roll one piece of dough between two pieces of parchment to a rectangle a little bigger than the template. Remove the top piece of parchment and, using a pizza wheel or paring knife, cut the dough into a peanut shape. Reserve the dough scraps. Repeat with the remaining dough piece. Mold the scraps into a rectangle, wrap in plastic and chill along with the peanut shapes until firm, about 30 minutes.
  • For the filling: Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Beat the peanut butter and butter in a large bowl with an electric mixer on medium speed until combined. Slowly add the confectioners' sugar, about a 1/4 cup at a time, beating in between additions, until completely incorporated.
  • To build the cookie: Roll out the chilled rectangle of dough scraps into a large rectangle about 1/4-inch thick. Use a pizza wheel or sharp paring knife to cut long strips about 1/2-inch wide. Transfer the peanut-shaped pieces of dough on their pieces of parchment to 2 baking sheets. Lay the dough strips on top of one of the peanut-shaped pieces of dough in a crisscross, freeform pattern to mimic the lines on a peanut. Use a rolling pin to gently flatten and adhere the strips to the peanut.
  • Bake the cookies until lightly golden around the edges and dry on top, about 30 minutes. Cool completely on the baking sheets on a wire rack.
  • Turn over the cookie without lines so it sits flat-side up on a flat serving plate. Spread the filling evenly to the edges. Top with the second cookie, lined-side up. Use a serrated knife to cut into squares for serving.

Time 1h10m

Yield 24 servings

Number Of Ingredients 4

Cooking spray
1 16-to-18-ounce box devil's food cake mix (plus required ingredients)
1 large egg
3 1.5-quart rectangular cartons vanilla ice cream, softened

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Coat two 12-by-17-inch rimmed baking sheets with cooking spray, then line with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the short sides.

  • Measure 2 1/2 inches in from each long side of one cake; mark with toothpicks. Score using a ruler, then remove the toothpicks and trim along the scored lines so the cake is 7 inches wide.

  • Invert the cake without the holes onto a clean baking sheet; peel off the parchment. Snip open 1 ice cream carton with kitchen shears, then slide the ice cream onto the cake.
  • Repeat with the other 2 cartons of ice cream, arranging them side by side on the cake. Cover with plastic wrap and press with your hands to smooth the ice cream and fill the gaps.
  • Remove the other cake from the parchment with a thin spatula; place it on the ice cream. Trim any excess cake and smooth the sides. Freeze at least 2 hours before serving.

GIANT BREAKFAST SANDWICH

Giant Breakfast Sandwich image

Supersize your next brunch with a breakfast sandwich that's big enough for a hungry crowd. For the ultimate bite, serve the wedges drizzled with maple syrup.

Provided by Food Network Kitchen

Categories     main-dish

Time 55m

Yield 8 to 12 servings (1 large sandwich)

Number Of Ingredients 9

Biscuit mix for 16 biscuits, such as Bisquick® (plus required ingredients)
2 tablespoons heavy cream
1 1/2 pounds bulk pork breakfast sausage
2 to 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
9 large eggs
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
8 slices American cheese
Hot sauce, for drizzling,
Maple syrup or honey, for serving, optional

Steps:

  • Position an oven rack in the upper third of the oven and preheat to 425 degrees F.
  • Prepare enough dough for 16 biscuits according to the biscuit mix package instructions. Pat the biscuit dough into an 8-inch-wide by 1/2-inch-thick disk and transfer to a 12-inch ovenproof nonstick skillet. Brush the top of the biscuit with the cream.
  • Bake on the top rack until golden and no longer wet on the inside, 25 to 30 minutes. Turn the biscuit out onto a cooling rack and wipe the skillet with paper towels.
  • Form the sausage into an 11-inch circle on a piece of wax paper. Add 1 tablespoon of the oil to the cleaned skillet. Lift the sausage with the wax paper, flip it over into the skillet and carefully peel off the wax paper. Turn the heat to medium high and cook until browned on the bottom, about 5 minutes. Invert a large plate over the skillet. Using oven mitts, carefully flip the sausage onto the plate, then slide it back into the skillet to cook on the other side, about 5 minutes more. Remove to a plate.
  • Wipe out the skillet with paper towels, return to medium heat and add 1 tablespoon oil. Crack the eggs one at a time into the skillet in a circle, overlapping very slightly. Once all the eggs are in, loosen the edges with a spatula. If the eggs are sticking, add up to 1 tablespoon of additional oil. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Cover with a lid and reduce the heat to medium low. Cook until the whites are set but the yolks are still runny, 3 to 5 minutes.
  • Slice the biscuit in half horizontally. Place the sausage patty on the cut side of the bottom piece, arrange the cheese slices on top of the sausage (a slight overhang is okay) and slide the hot eggs on top of the cheese. Drizzle the eggs with hot sauce and cover with the top of the biscuit. Finish with a drizzle of maple syrup or honey if desired.

GIANT PEANUT BUTTER ICE CREAM SANDWICH

Giant Peanut Butter Ice Cream Sandwich image

I created this treat for my husband, adding light and low-fat products to the cookie dough. It was so fantastic that I fixed it with conventional ingredients for guests. Since it can be made ahead of time and frozen, it cuts stress for busy hostesses. And really, who doesn't love peanut butter? -Joann Belack, Bradenton, Florida

4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
1/3 cup prepared pesto
1/4 cup chopped sun-dried tomatoes. (If using dry-pack, soak in boiling water 10 minutes, then chop
1/3 cup light mayonnaise
2 Tbsp light sour cream
1 tsp Dijon mustard
Pepper
1 round Italian loaf (One loaf of French bread would probably work too).
8 Lettuce leaves
1/2 cup grated carrots.

Steps:

  • Grill chicken until no longer pink inside. Cool slightly. Cut into bit size pieces. Mix with pesto and sun-dried tomatoes. Combine light mayo, sour cream, Dijon mustard and pepper. Cut bread in half horizontally; hollow out loaf leaving 1" thick walls. Spread mayonnaise mixture over both sides on the bread. Cover the bottom half of the loaf with ½ of the lettuce leaves; arrange chicken on top. Sprinkle with carrots; cover with remaining lettuce. Replace top of loaf. Wrap loaf in plastic wrap; cover with inverted plate and place heavy can on top to weight down. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or for up to 8 hours. To serve, cut into 6 wedges.
