1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped celery
2 tablespoons butter
1-1/4 cups hot water
3/4 cup uncooked wild rice
1-1/2 teaspoons chicken bouillon granules
1 small apple, chopped
2 tablespoons chopped pecans, toasted
1/4 teaspoon grated lemon zest, optional

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan, saute onion and celery in butter until tender. Stir in the water, rice and bouillon; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 50-55 minutes or until liquid is absorbed and rice is tender. , Remove from the heat; fold in apple, pecans and lemon zest if desired.

1 small onion, chopped
1 celery rib, chopped
2 tablespoons butter
1 package (6 ounces) long grain and wild rice mix
1 can (14-1/2 ounces) reduced-sodium chicken broth or vegetable broth
3/4 cup golden raisins and cherries
1/2 cup water
1/3 cup chopped pecans, toasted

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan, saute onion and celery in butter until tender. Add rice mix with contents of seasoning packet; stir to coat. , Stir in the broth, fruit and water. Bring to a boil. 3/4 cup golden raisins and cherries
1 tablespoon minced fresh parsley
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon dried thyme
1/8 teaspoon rubbed sage
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/4 cup chopped pecans, toasted
