CABBAGE FRUIT SALAD
This salad goes well with all meats-it's especially good at barbecues-and fish. I recently served it at the Prayer Brunch of our local women's club. After 55 years of marriage, I'm a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother doing the things I like to do...and cooking's on top of that list!

- In a large bowl, toss cabbage, oranges, apples, grapes and currants; cover and refrigerate. In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, milk, lemon juice, sugar and salt; cover and refrigerate. Just before serving, stir dressing and pecans into salad.

- In a large bowl, combine cabbage, green pepper and onion. In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, vinegar, sugar and salt. Pour over cabbage mixture and toss to coat. Cover and refrigerate at least 4 hours. Stir in bacon just before serving.

- Quarter, core and very thinly slice 1 small head green cabbage; transfer to a large bowl. Pour 4 cups salted boiling water over the cabbage and toss with tongs until wilted. Let sit 15 minutes. Drain, rinse and pat dry. Whisk 1/4 cup each white wine vinegar and olive oil, 2 teaspoons sugar, 1 teaspoon kosher salt and a few grinds of pepper in the bowl. Add the cabbage and toss well.

- Drain pineapple, reserving juice; set pineapple aside. In a large saucepan, combine sugar and flour. Stir in the orange juice, lemon juice and reserved pineapple juice. Bring to a boil. Remove from the heat. Stir a small amount of hot mixture into eggs; return all to the pan, stirring constantly. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened., Cool to room temperature, stirring several times, about 20 minutes. Fold in whipped topping. In a large bowl, combine strawberries, grapes, bananas, kiwi and pineapple. Add dressing; toss. Serve immediately.
