CRANBERRY-ORANGE VODKA SLUSH

Years ago, my mother made a rosy and refreshing party drink I've never forgotten. The sparkle comes from fruit juices, vodka and lemon lime soda. -Melinda Strable, Ankeny, Iowa

Number Of Ingredients 7

9 cups water
2 cups sugar
1 can (12 ounces) frozen cranberry juice concentrate, partially thawed
1 can (12 ounces) frozen orange juice concentrate, partially thawed
3/4 cup thawed lemonade concentrate
2 cups vodka
8 cups lemon-lime soda, chilled

Steps:

  • In a 5-qt. bowl, mix water and sugar until sugar is dissolved. Stir in juice concentrates and vodka until blended. Transfer to freezer containers, allowing headspace for expansion; freeze overnight., To serve, place 2/3 cup slush in each glass. Add 1/3 cup soda.

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 cups white sugar
7 cups water
2 tablespoons instant tea powder
1 (12 fluid ounce) can frozen orange juice concentrate
1 (12 fluid ounce) can frozen lemonade concentrate
2 cups cold water
2 cups vodka
1 liter lemon-lime flavored carbonated beverage

Steps:

  • In a 6 quart pot combine sugar and 7 cups water. Bring to boil and stir until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat. Stir in tea powder while hot. Add orange juice concentrate, lemonade concentrate and 2 cups cold water. Chill in refrigerator.
  • When cold mix in vodka. Pour into a plastic container leaving room on top for expansion. Freeze or 24 hours.
  • To serve, scoop about 1 cup into a tall glass and quickly stir in 1/3 cup lemon-lime soda.

Wonderful summer drink, very refreshing and easy to mix up since most of it is done ahead of time. You can also substitute 2 c vodka and 2 1/2 c of water for a little stronger drink.

1 cup strong tea (anykind will do)
1 cup vodka
1 cup sugar
3 1/2 cups water
7-Up soda

Steps:

  • Mix together, then freeze.
  • When ready to use, fill collins glass half full with slush then add 7-up to fill.
  • Garnish with a orange slice and cherry.

I have a neighbour that brings me raspberries from her everbearing bush. There are only so many batches of jam that one can make. This is the best summer drink ever. This recipe came from my sister, a great cook herself.

1 (1 7/8 liter) can pineapple juice
2 (355 ml) cans frozen lemonade
200 ml reallemon lemon juice
3 (8 g) packages unsweetened raspberry kool-aid
750 ml mashed fresh raspberries (or frozen)
375 ml sugar
750 ml vodka

Steps:

  • Mix everything together in a clean ice cream pail.
  • Put into the freezer.
  • Stir every couple of hours.
  • Once this is frozen to a nice slush consistency, spoon 45 ml.(or more) into a tall glass. Top with club soda, gingerale, or 7-up.
  • You could substitute strawberries for a strawberry slush, but you'll want to use strawberry koolaid instead.

2 cups squeezed fresh orange juice, strained
1 1/4 cups vodka
1/4 cup squeezed fresh lime juice, strained
1/4 cup Grand Marnier
lime zest, for garnish
orange slice, for garnish
fresh cranberries, for garnish

Steps:

  • In a plastic container with a lid (or a pitcher with a lid), combine all ingredients.
  • Seal and place in the freezer until frozen solid.
  • Take out of freezer and let thaw.
  • Drink when it has thawed and is slushy.
  • Or put in blender and blend until slushy.
  • Garnish with fresh cranberries, zest of a lime or an orange slice.

2 cups sugar
9 cups water
12 ounces frozen orange juice
12 ounces frozen lemonade
3 cups vodka
Sprite (7-Up or other lemon-lime soda)

Steps:

  • Boil sugar and water until all sugar is dissolved. Cool slighty. Add frozen juice and lemonade and vodka; mix. Put in a tightly covered plastic container and store in the freezer.
  • When ready to serve, fill each glass 1/2 full of slush mixture. Fill the rest of the glass with 7-Up. May garnish glasses with fresh mint, a strawberry or other fruit.

1 can (46 ounces) pineapple juice
8 cups water
1 can (12 ounces) frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed
1 can (12 ounces) frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed
4 cups sugar
2 cups fresh or frozen unsweetened raspberries
2 envelopes unsweetened cherry soft drink mix or other red flavor of your choice
ADDITIONAL INGREDIENT:
Grapefruit or citrus soda

Steps:

  • In a 6-qt. container, combine the first seven ingredients. Cover and freeze for 12 hours, stirring every 2 hours. May be frozen for up to 3 months. , For each serving: Place 1/2 cup fruit slush in a glass. Add 1/2 cup soda.
