Categories     Breakfast and Brunch     French Toast Recipes

Time 35m

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 11

¼ cup red wine
½ cup orange juice
½ teaspoon grated orange zest
½ cup maple syrup
1 pinch crushed red pepper flakes, or to taste
8 slices whole wheat bread
½ cup softened cream cheese
½ cup fresh blueberries
4 eggs
⅓ cup milk
¼ cup butter

Steps:

  • Bring the red wine, orange juice, and orange zest to a boil in a small saucepan; reduce heat to medium-low and cook for 5 minutes. Pour in the maple syrup and crushed red pepper flakes. Continue cooking 5 minutes more; reduce heat to warm and keep the syrup hot.
  • Meanwhile, spread one side of each slice of bread with the softened cream cheese. Press the blueberries into the cream cheese and sandwich two pieces of bread together with the cream cheese on the inside to form the sandwiches; set aside. Beat the eggs in a mixing bowl; whisk in the milk until smooth.
  • Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Dip the sandwiches into the egg mixture allowing the egg to soak into the bread; allow excess egg to drip off. Cook the sandwiches in the hot butter until golden brown on both sides and the bread is no longer soggy, about 5 minutes per side. Serve with the hot orange maple syrup.

YUMMY AND HEALTHY BANANA FRENCH TOAST SANDWICH

Yummy and Healthy Banana French Toast Sandwich image

This is something I just tinkered with until it came out to my liking. I tried it with jelly on the inside, but I couldn't taste it, so I just decided to leave the jelly out. The bananas still stay in between the bread without it. It's very delicious and low-fat as well. It doesn't even need syrup.

PEANUT BUTTER, BANANA STUFFED FRENCH TOAST WITH SANDWICH MAKER

Peanut Butter, Banana Stuffed French Toast With Sandwich Maker image

So good--so easy! I bought a $10 sandwich maker from WalMart and it came with a few recipes, one was for a Monte Cristo (which is ham n cheese, dipped in egg and cooked like French toast). So I thought I could try something similar.

Time 17m

Yield 2 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 10

4 slices whole wheat bread
2 tablespoons peanut butter
1 medium banana, sliced
3 eggs
2 tablespoons milk
1 pinch cinnamon (optional)
1/4 cup sliced and sugared strawberry, with (optional)
sugar
maple syrup
cooking spray

Steps:

  • Plug in and turn on your sandwich maker.
  • If your bread is the "larger" size, cut the bread to fit your sandwich maker.
  • Slather 2 pieces of bread with as much peanut butter as you like.
  • Lay sliced bananas on the peanut butter to cover sandwich.
  • Place the last two slices of bread on top of the bananas (if you really like peanut butter, you may peanut butter them first).
  • In a small dish, beat together eggs, milk and cinnamon.
  • Spray sandwich maker down with Oil Spray.
  • Take each sandwich and turn it in the egg to coat.
  • Place in sandwich maker and close until finished.

FRENCH TOAST BREAKFAST SANDWICH

French Toast Breakfast Sandwich image

If you like sweet and savory, this breakfast sandwich is for you. It's surprisingly delicious. Vanilla creamer adds a little bit of sweetness to the french toast. Then, cooking the remaining egg mixture to put on the sandwich is genius. Bacon and cheese add the touch of savoriness the sandwich needs. Powdered sugar sprinkled on...

Provided by Roni Rawlins

Categories     Other Breakfast

Time 15m

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 Slices bread
2 eggs
2 tbsp vanilla coffee creamer
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 Kraft American cheese singles
few slices cooked bacon
powdered sugar
butter

Steps:

  • 1. Beat eggs with coffee creamer and cinnamon. I find sweetened coffee creamer instead of milk adds the bit of sweetness that french toast needs since it is hard to add sugar to the egg and cook it. If you don't have sweetened coffee creamer just use milk and vanilla but it won't be sweet.
  • 2. Dip the bread into the egg mixture.
  • 3. Cook on med heat (melt butter in the pan before cooking) until done. Remove from pan.
  • 4. Add butter to the hot pan. Use the leftover egg mixture to make a folded fried egg.
  • 5. Put cheese and bacon on one piece of french toast.
  • 6. Place cooked egg on top of the bacon and cheese.
  • 7. Sprinkle top and bottom with powdered sugar. Enjoy!

BANANA RICOTTA FRENCH TOAST SANDWICH

BANANA RICOTTA FRENCH TOAST SANDWICH image

Categories     Sandwich     Cheese     Egg     Brunch     Quick & Easy     Healthy

Yield 2 people

Number Of Ingredients 15

Toast:
2 thick slices of sourdough or french bread (cut in half, to make 4)
Filling:
3/4 cup Part Skim Ricotta
One whole banana (chopped)
Optional: 1tbsp of brown sugar, or sweeten to taste
Batter to dip:
3 eggs beaten
2 tbsp Milk
Topping (optional):
Honey
Chopped almonds
Powdered sugar
Raspberries
To cook: 2 pads of butter (one for each toast)

Steps:

  • In bowl, mix ricotta, brown sugar, and banana for sandwich filling. Place a good amount of the mixture on on side of half slice of bread. Basically, create a sandwich. Do this for both slices of bread, so you have two sandwiches. Beat in a separate bowl, eggs and milk. Place one side of sandwich in the egg mixture, let set for about a minute or until it looks like it has soaked through. Flip over and repeat. Do this for both sandwiches. In a sauce pan, heat one pad of butter over medium heat until melted. Place sandwich, and cook until golden brown. Flip and repeat. I also cook the sides and front of sandwich, about 30 seconds on each side; until whole sandwich is golden brown. Finish one, wipe pan clean, and repeat for second sandwich. Top plate, drizzle honey on top. I also think chopped almonds would taste great as well. Then take a giant bite and enjoy!
