El Paso Grilled Turkey Patties image

Like tacos without the shell, these flavorful grilled patties are delicious on a bed of lettuce and avocado.

1 egg, slightly beaten
1 package (20 oz) lean ground turkey
1/4 cup Progresso™ plain bread crumbs
2 tablespoons Old El Paso™ taco seasoning mix (from 1 oz package)
1 cup Old El Paso™ Thick 'n Chunky salsa
1 medium avocado, pitted, peeled and chopped
4 cups shredded lettuce

Steps:

  • Heat gas or charcoal grill. In medium bowl, mix egg, turkey, bread crumbs, taco seasoning mix and 1/4 cup of the salsa. Shape mixture into 4 patties, 1/2 inch thick.
  • When grill is heated, place patties on gas grill over medium heat or on charcoal grill over medium coals; cover grill. Cook 10 to 12 minutes, turning once, until patties are no longer pink in center.
  • Meanwhile, in medium bowl, mix remaining 3/4 cup salsa and the avocado. To serve, place 1 cup lettuce on each serving plate; top with turkey patty and 1/4 of avocado mixture.

1 package (20 oz) lean ground turkey
1/2 cup ranch dressing
1 package (1 oz) Old El Paso™ taco seasoning mix
4 slices (0.7 oz each) Cheddar or pepper Jack cheese
4 burger buns, split

Steps:

  • Heat gas or charcoal grill. In large bowl, mix turkey, ranch dressing and taco seasoning mix. Shape mixture into 4 patties, about 4 inches wide and 3/4 inch thick.
  • Place patties on grill over medium heat. Cover grill; cook 13 to 15 minutes, carefully turning once, until meat thermometer inserted in center of patties reads at least 165°F. Top each burger with 1 slice cheese and place buns, cut sides down, on grill; cover grill and cook 1 to 2 minutes or until cheese is melted and buns are lightly toasted.
  • Place burgers on bun bottoms. Cover with bun tops.

1 pound ground turkey or chicken
1/2 cup barbecue sauce
1 can 4.5 ounces) Old El Paso™ chopped green chiles, drained
4 slices (1 ounce each) Monterey Jack cheese with jalapeño peppers
4 hamburger buns, split

Steps:

  • Mix turkey, barbecue sauce and chilies. Shape mixture into 4 patties, each about 3/4 inch thick.
  • Set oven control to broil. Place patties on rack in broiler pan. Broil with tops about 3 inches from heat 10 to 14 minutes, turning once, until turkey is no longer pink in center. About 1 minute before burgers are done, top each with cheese slice. Broil until cheese is melted.

1 can (4.5 ounces) Old El Paso™ chopped green chiles, drained
4 slices (1 ounce each) Monterey Jack cheese with jalapeño peppers
4 hamburger buns, split

Steps:

  • Heat coals or gas grill for direct heat.
  • Mix turkey, barbecue sauce and chilies. Shape mixture into 4 patties, each about 1 inch thick.
  • Grill patties covered 4 to 6 inches from medium coals 14 to 16 minutes, turning once, until turkey is no longer pink in center. About 1 minute before burgers are done, top each with cheese slice. Grill until cheese is melted. Serve on buns.
