1 ½ pounds ground beef
1 onion, chopped
1 red bell pepper, chopped
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
1 cup water
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon distilled white vinegar
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon dried oregano
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
8 hamburger buns, split

Steps:

  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, saute the ground beef for 5 minutes. Add the onion and red bell pepper; saute for 5 more minutes, or until onion is tender. Drain the fat.
  • Mix in tomato paste and water, stirring until paste is dissolved. Stir in garlic, chili powder, paprika, cumin, vinegar, brown sugar, oregano, salt and pepper. Continue to heat for 5 to 10 minutes, or until mixture is thick and stewy.

I've been tweaking this recipe for years and think it's finally perfected. Like a good chili, it may be even better the second day. Serve on toasted hamburger buns.

2 ½ pounds ground beef
1 large onion, chopped
¼ green bell pepper, chopped
2 stalks celery, chopped
1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed chicken gumbo soup
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
2 tablespoons brown sugar
4 tablespoons lemon juice
1 ½ tablespoons yellow mustard
½ cup ketchup
½ cup barbecue sauce
6 tablespoons white vinegar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon liquid smoke flavoring
½ teaspoon dried parsley
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • In a large heavy skillet, cook ground beef until evenly brown; drain well.
  • In a slow cooker, combine onion, bell pepper, celery, condensed gumbo soup, tomato paste and brown sugar. Stir in lemon juice, mustard, ketchup, barbeque sauce and vinegar. season with Worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke, parsley, black pepper and salt. Stir in browned beef.
  • Cover, and cook on low for 4 to 6 hours, stirring occasionally. Skim off excess fat.

1 lb ground beef
1/2 cup finely chopped yellow sweet onion
1/4 cup finely chopped green bell pepper
1 jalapeno pepper, minced
1 teaspoon famous daves steak seasoning
1 tablespoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 1/2 cups famous daves barbecue sauce
1 teaspoon prepared mustard

Steps:

  • cook the ground beef in a skillet until the ground beef begins to brown drain.
  • stir in onion,green pepper,jalapeno,steak seasoning and chilli powder.
  • cook untill the ground beef is cooked through and crumbly stirring constantly.
  • add cayenne pepper bbq sauce and mustard mix well.
  • cook until heated through and serve.

1 small onion (finely chopped)
1/2 small green bell pepper (seeded and finely diced)
1 Tbsp worcestershire sauce
1 tsp yellow mustard
1/4 cup water
1 Tbsp brown sugar
15 oz can tomato sauce
1 lb lean ground beef (85%-90% lean)
1 Tbsp olive oil
½ tsp salt (or to taste)
¼ tsp ground black pepper (or to taste)
3 garlic cloves (minced)
4 hamburger buns (toasted if desired)

Steps:

  • Finely chop the onion. Seed and finely dice the green pepper.
  • In a bowl, combine the Worcestershire sauce, mustard, water, brown sugar, and tomato sauce.
  • Place a large skillet or dutch oven over medium/high heat. Add olive oil and ground beef. Saute the beef for about 5 minutes until cooked through and longer pink, breaking it up with a spatula. Season with salt and pepper and add in the diced peppers and onion. Cook another 5 minutes until the veggies are tender and beef is browned.
  • Add the minced garlic and saute 30 seconds until fragrant, stirring constantly. Add in the sauce and bring to a light boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for about 10 minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper and serve on toasted buns for Sloppy Joe Sandwiches.

1 pound lean ground turkey
1 small onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 cup ketchup
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon prepared mustard
1 tablespoon barbecue sauce
6 hamburger buns, split

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, cook turkey and onion over medium heat 6-8 minutes or until turkey is no longer pink, breaking up turkey into crumbles; drain if necessary. Add garlic; cook 1 minute longer. Stir in sugar, flour and pepper until blended., Stir in ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, mustard and barbecue sauce. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, covered, 10 minutes to allow flavors to blend. Spoon meat mixture onto bun bottoms; replace tops. Freeze option: Freeze cooled meat mixture in freezer containers. To use, partially thaw in refrigerator overnight.
