This EASY 3-ingredient slow cooker dish has become a staple in my house! It's SO easy, family-friendly and it makes enough for several meals.

2 to 3 lb trimmed pork shoulder blade roast
1 tbsp liquid mesquite smoke
coarse red Hawaiian sea salt (any sea salt would work)

Steps:

  • Place pork in the crock pot and stab it all over with the tip of a knife. Rub sea salt all over pork. Drizzle the liquid smoke all over and set crock pot to low; cook until the meat is tender, about 12 to 16 hours.
  • Remove from crock pot and place on a large platter. Remove any fat you may have missed and shred pork with two forks. Discard liquid reserving a little as needed to keep pork moist.

At any Hawaiian luau, kalua pork will always be there. Learn how to make kalua pork using a crock pot or slowcooker. This is such a simple recipe that any beginner cook or chef could do it.

6 lb pork butt (or pork shoulder)
1 1/2 tbsp Hawaiian salt (sea salt works too)
1 cabbage head (optional)

Steps:

  • Rub the salt all over the pork butt.
  • Add it to the crock pot and pour in the liquid smoke flavoring on top of it.
  • Select low heat for 8 hours. Half way through flip the pork. Cut up a head of a cabbage and set aside.
  • 30 minutes before the crock pot finishes cooking, add in the cabbage.
  • Shred the meat with two forks. Take off all the meat around the bound and discard it. Serve and enjoy!

1 boneless pork shoulder roast (5 to 6 pounds)
1 tablespoon liquid smoke
4 teaspoons sea salt (preferably Hawaiian Alaea Sea Salt)
Hot cooked rice, optional

Steps:

  • Pierce pork with a fork; rub with liquid smoke and salt. Place pork in a 6-qt. slow cooker. Cook, covered, on low until pork is tender, 8-10 hours. , Remove roast; shred with 2 forks. Strain cooking juices; skim fat. Return pork to slow cooker. Stir in enough cooking juices to moisten; heat through. If desired, serve with rice. Freeze option: Freeze cooled meat mixture and juices in freezer containers. To use, partially thaw in refrigerator overnight. Heat through in a saucepan, stirring occasionally; add broth if necessary.

One of our favorite things at our local Hawaiian Mix Plate! Prep time includes the sitting overnight in the fridge. This definitely isn't a "quick" recipe but it is worth the wait.

5 lbs pork butt (or shoulder)
1 tablespoon liquid smoke (or soy sauce)
2 garlic cloves, crushed
3 tablespoons hawaiian salt (or sea salt)

Steps:

  • Cut slits in pork and rub with salt, garlic & liquid smoke or soy sauce. Wrap in plastic and let in rest overnight in the fridge.
  • 10-12 hours before serving, place in crockpot. Add an inch of water. Turn crockpot on low and leave it to cook for 10-12 hours, flipping pork over halfway through.
  • Remove from the crockpot and shred with two forks.
  • Eat as is or on a sandwich or even stir fried quickly with some shredded cabbage!

7 bacon strips, divided
1 boneless pork shoulder butt roast (3 to 4 pounds), well trimmed
1 tablespoon coarse sea salt
1 medium head cabbage (about 2 pounds), coarsely chopped

Steps:

  • Line bottom of a 6-qt. slow cooker with 4 bacon strips. Sprinkle all sides of roast with salt; place in slow cooker. Arrange remaining bacon over top of roast., Cook, covered, on low 8-10 hours or until pork is tender. Add cabbage, spreading cabbage around roast. Cook, covered, 1 to 1-1/4 hours longer or until cabbage is tender. , Remove pork to a serving bowl; shred pork with 2 forks. Using a slotted spoon, add cabbage to pork and toss to combine. If desired, skim fat from some of the cooking juices; stir juices into pork mixture or serve on the side.

5-6 lb pork but or sholder
4 Tbsp hawiian or coarse sea salt
4 Tbsp liquid smoke flavoring
ti leaves, banana leaves, or spinach leaves to cover pork
2 c apple cider or water

Steps:

  • 1. Cut small slits, about 1 to 1-1/2 inches in length, all along the surface of the pork. Rub the pork with Hawaiian or coarse sea salt then with liquid smoke.
  • 2. Lay out a large piece of heavy-duty aluminum foil, and place leaves on top. Place pork on leaves and wrap them around the pork. Cover with remaining leaves until pork is completely covered. Wrap the foil tightly around the pork to make a seal.
  • 3. Place roast in a slow cooker with apple cider or water. Cover and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours.
  • 4. Remove meat from slow cooker. Allow it to rest for 15 minutes then shred adding drippings if needed to keep the meat moist.
  • 5. You can add vegetables, water, and some of the shredded pork to the stock for a nice soup.

2 teaspoons ground black pepper
½ teaspoon ground ginger
1 (5 pound) bone-in pork shoulder roast
1 tablespoon soy sauce

½ large head cabbage, shredded

Steps:
