A sentimental favorite. My mother and I made it when I was 7 and it's been a part of our holiday tradition ever since. A fun recipe to make with the kids. A slow cooker will keep it warm while serving.

3 ½ quarts water
1 (12 ounce) package cranberries
2 cups white sugar
2 oranges, juiced
2 lemons, juiced
12 whole cloves
2 cinnamon sticks

Steps:

  • In a large pot, combine water and cranberries. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for 30 minutes. Add sugar, orange juice, lemon juice, cloves and cinnamon sticks. Cover, and steep for 1 hour.

2 cups boiling water
6 cranberry herb tea bags
¼ cup lemon juice
9 packets Sweet'N Low granulated sugar substitute
2 ½ cups cold water
1 ½ cups orange juice

Steps:

  • In a large pitcher, pour the boiling water over the tea bags. Steep 5 minutes; remove the tea bags and discard.
  • Stir in the lemon juice and Sweet'N Low until the Sweet'N Low dissolves. Mix in the cold water and orange juice.
  • Refrigerate until well chilled.
  • Pour over ice in tall glasses.

1 pound fresh or frozen cranberries
3 quarts cold water
2 cups orange juice
2 ⅛ cups pineapple juice
¼ cup lemon juice
2 cups white sugar, or to taste
1 (3 inch) cinnamon stick
1 teaspoon whole cloves
½ teaspoon whole allspice berries

Steps:

  • Place the cranberries and water into a large pot. Bring to a boil and cook just until the berries pop, about 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and let stand at room temperature until cold, several hours.
  • Strain out the cranberries and stir the orange juice, pineapple juice, lemon juice and sugar into the liquid. Add the cinnamon stick, whole cloves and allspice berries. Bring to a low boil. It is ready to serve at this point, but it is even better if you allow it to sit overnight.

This is a very easy cranberry tea recipe with only a few ingredients. The cooking time is actually the chill time. This is from The Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook.

3 cups water
4 (2 g) green tea bags
1 (2 g) mint-flavored herbal tea bags
2 cups cranberry juice, chilled
ice cube
fresh mint leaves (optional) or fresh cranberries (optional)

Steps:

  • Boil water in a medium saucepan.
  • Remove from heat and add all tea bags.
  • Cover and let stand for 10 minutes.
  • Remove tea bags and then cover and chill for 2 hours.
  • Transfer tea to a pitcher and stir in cranberry juice.
  • If desired garnish with mint leaves or fresh cranberries.
  • Chill remaining tea for up to 2 days.

Here's a light and tasty icy-cool ending to a festive holiday dinner.

5 whole cloves
1 slice orange
2 cups water
1/2 cup sugar
1 stick cinnamon
3 tea bags red zesty herbal tea flavored with hibiscus, rose hips and lemongrass
1 1/2 cups cranberry juice cocktail
1 1/2 cups pineapple juice
Fresh fruit, if desired
Thin almond wafer cookies, if desired

Steps:

  • Insert cloves into peel of orange slice. In 2-quart saucepan, heat water, sugar, cinnamon and orange slice to boiling, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat; add tea bags. Cover; let steep 5 minutes. Remove tea bags, cinnamon stick and orange slice.
  • Stir cranberry and pineapple juices into tea. Pour into 2-quart nonmetal bowl or 8-inch square glass baking dish. Cover; freeze about 2 hours or until partially frozen. Stir with fork or wire whisk. Cover; freeze 3 hours longer, stirring every 30 minutes and breaking up any large chunks.
  • Remove granita from freezer 20 minutes before serving. Spoon into stemmed glasses. Garnish with fruit and cookies.
