CRAB RANGOON CHEESE BALL

My whole family loves crab rangoon, so I wanted to come up with a healthier version-no deep frying! Word of advice: Make a double batch. This won't last long! -Bridget Mooney, Chicago, Illinois

Yield 2 cups (48 wonton chips).

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 package (8 ounces) reduced-fat cream cheese
1 cup shredded reduced-fat cheddar cheese
1 garlic clove, minced
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 can (6 ounces) lump crabmeat, drained or 6 ounces imitation crabmeat, chopped
3 tablespoons minced fresh chives
24 wonton wrappers
Cooking spray
1 teaspoon sesame seeds
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, beat cream cheese, cheddar cheese, garlic and Worcestershire sauce until blended. Stir in crab. Shape mixture into a ball; coat with chives. Wrap in plastic; refrigerate at least 1 hour., Preheat oven to 350°. Cut wonton wrappers diagonally in half; arrange in a single layer on ungreased baking sheets. Spritz with cooking spray; sprinkle with sesame seeds, salt and pepper. Bake 5-7 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from pans to wire racks to cool. Serve with cheese ball.

1 dash(es) ground black pepper, to taste
8 oz imitation crab meat (can use real crab)
1/2 c (2 oz) finely grated mozzarella cheese
2 Tbsp finely grated sweet red bell pepper
2 Tbsp finely chopped green onions
2 Tbsp finely chopped celery
2 pkg (8 oz. each) cream cheese, softened

Steps:

  • 1. Mix all ingredients; shape into one or two balls and chill for at least 30 minutes before serving. Serve with crackers.

1 teaspoon horseradish (optional)
1 -2 drop Worcestershire sauce
1 cup imitation crabmeat, shredded
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 (250 ml) jar chipotle chili sauce

Steps:

  • Mix cream cheese, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, crab meat and lemon juice together and form into a ball.

1 can (6 ounces) lump crabmeat, drained
1/4 cup finely chopped sweet red pepper
1 green onion, finely chopped
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
16 sheets phyllo dough (14 inch x 9 inch sheet size)
1/4 cup butter, melted
1 round (8 ounces) Brie cheese, rind removed
1 large egg
1 tablespoon water
Assorted crackers

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine the first five ingredients. Shape into a ball; set aside. Place one sheet of phyllo dough on a work surface. (Keep remaining dough covered with plastic wrap and a damp towel to prevent it from drying out.) Brush dough with butter. Repeat with remaining phyllo, brushing each layer with remaining butter., Place Brie in center of phyllo stack; top with ball of crab mixture. Bring up corners of dough around Brie and ball; invert and place seam side down in a greased 9-in. pie plate. Combine egg and water. 1 small pkg pimento cheese spread
1 small pkg imitation crab meat shredded
1 pkg chopped walnuts or pecans

Steps:

  • 1. let cream cheese sit out until it is softened at room temperature
  • 2. crumble the crab meat into small shreds or pieces
  • 3. Mix Cream cheese, pimento cheese, and crab meat together until completely combined. Form into a ball or what ever shape you want it.
  • 4. Roll ball in the chopped nuts and let set in fridge for 1 hour. Serve with crackers. Ritz works the best
