This recipe came from my friend's grandmother. It's a hit whenever I make them. They should be called the vanishing cookie! I always make a double batch, so the recipe is doubled.

Number Of Ingredients 12

3 cups brown sugar
3 cups white sugar
3 cups butter (softened)
6 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
6 cups flour
3 teaspoons baking soda
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
3 cups rice crispy rice cereal
3 cups oatmeal
3 cups coconut

Steps:

  • Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Mix together the Rice Crispies, oatmeal and coconut--set aside.
  • Sift together flour, soda, powder and salt--set aside.
  • In a very large bowl, cream brown sugar, white sugar, butter, eggs and vanilla. Slowly add flour mixture to creamed mixture. Add oatmeal mixture and mix together. I use my hands (scrubbed first!) for this part--it's easier.
  • Drop by spoonful on cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 10 to 12 minutes depending on your oven. If you like them soft.bake less.

It's a great cookie, one of the kids' favorites. This doesn't call for nuts, but I sometimes add about 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts or pecans.

2 cups all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
½ cup margarine
½ cup vegetable oil
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
2 large eggs eggs
2 cups quick cooking oats
1 cup butterscotch chips

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
  • In a medium bowl, cream margarine, oil, brown sugar, and white sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs one at a time. Gradually stir in the sifted ingredients until well blended. Mix in oats and butterscotch chips. Drop from a teaspoon onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Bake for 10 to 12 minutes in preheated oven, or until edges are golden. Let set up on the cookie sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Crisco - Classic Sugar Cookie Recipe - (4/5) image

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 cup Butter Flavor Crisco Shortening or 1 butter flavor stick
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
3 eggs
2 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
4-5 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. salt

Steps:

  • Cream Crisco and sugars together. Beat in eggs one at a time; add milk and vanilla. Combine flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt. Mix into creamed mixture until well blended. Chill for one hour. Heat oven to 350 Roll out 1/3 of the dough at a time, to about 1/4-inch thickness on a floured surface. Cut out with cookie cutters. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet. Sprinkle with colored sugars and decors or leave plain and frost when cooled. Bake 5-6 minuts or until edges are slightly golden. Remove immediately to cooling rack. Buttery Cream Frosting In medium mixing bowl, combine 4 cups confectioner's sugar, 1/2 cup butter flavor Shortening and 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla. Slowly blend in 6-7 tbsp. milk to desired consistency. Beat on hih speed for 5 minutes
