You are going to love this! What a great way to cool off in this summer heat. Very refreshing! This can be started ahead up to one week, or as little as 3 hours ahead of time.

6 cups water
3 cups sugar
3 cups fresh lime juice
3 cups orange juice
crushed ice

Steps:

  • Bring 3 cups water and sugar to boil in large saucepan over high heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
  • Boil 3 minutes.
  • Transfer syrup to bowl; cover.
  • Chill until cold, at least 3 hours and up to 1 week.
  • Mix lime juice, orange juice, 3 cups syrup, and 3 cups water in large pitcher (Can be made 1 day ahead. Cover and chill).
  • Fill glasses with ice.
  • Pour cooler over.

3 cups fresh lime juice
3 cups fresh orange juice
crushed ice

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan over high heat bring water and sugar to a boil, stirring until sugar disolves. Boil 3 minutes. Transfer syrup to a bowl or other container; cover; chill until cold (at least 3 hours but will keep for up to one week).
  • In a large pitcher mix together juices, 3 cups syrup and 3 cups water. ***can be made one day ahead; covered and chilled***.
  • Fill glasses with ice and pour cooler over.
  • ***Left over syrup is wonderful added to iced tea topped with mint leaves and lemon slices.

4 1/2 cups sugar
4 cups water
9 large lemons
4 oranges
Ice cubes
9 cups (about) bottled water

Steps:

  • Bring 4 1/2 cups sugar and 4 cups water to boil in large pot over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves. Remove sugar syrup from heat. Using vegetable peeler, peel lemons and oranges, leaving white pith on fruit. Add lemon and orange peels to sugar syrup. Squeeze juices from lemons and oranges; add to sugar syrup mixture. Let mixture stand at room temperature at least 6 hours. Strain juice mixture; discard peels. (Can be prepared 1 week ahead. Transfer to airtight container; keep refrigerated.) Fill sixteen 10-ounce glasses with ice cubes. Divide juice mixture equally among glasses; add enough bottled water to each glass to fill and stir to combine. Serve.
