This easy, healthy banana bread is the best! Moist, fluffy, and ultra delicious. Made with yogurt and whole wheat. So yummy and good for you!

1 1/2 cups mashed overripe bananas (about 11 ounces or 3 large)
1 large egg
1/3 cup plain Greek yogurt (I used nonfat. OK to substitute vanilla, though the bread will be a bit sweeter.)
2 tablespoons canola oil ( or melted cooled coconut oil*)
1/3 cup light brown sugar
1/4 cup pure maple syrup
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1 1/2 cups white whole wheat flour
3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips ( or chopped dark chocolate (optional))

Steps:

  • Place the rack in the center of your oven and preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease an 8 x 4-inch loaf pan with nonstick spray and set aside.
  • Mash the bananas in the bottom of a large bowl until mostly smooth.
  • Whisk in the egg, then the yogurt and oil.
  • Whisk in the brown sugar, maple syrup, and vanilla. Sprinkle the baking soda, cinnamon, and salt over the top, then stir until combined.
  • Gently stir in the flour until barely combined, then fold in any mix-ins.
  • Scrape the mixture into the prepared pan. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Check at the 35-minute mark and tent with foil if the bread is browning too quickly at the corners. Place the pan on a wire rack and let cool for 15 minutes. Remove from pan and place on rack to finish cooling completely (for neat slicing), or enjoy warm and don't worry if the slices are messy.

Made with 3 super ripe bananas this chocolate banana bread is so tender, fluffy, and chocolatey!

1 cup white whole wheat flour
½ cup light brown sugar (or coconut sugar)
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chocolate chips (+ more for topping)
2 large eggs
3 medium ripe bananas (mashed (~1.25 cups))
1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk*
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/4 cup melted coconut oil

Steps:

  • First, preheat the oven to 350ºF and spray a standard-size bread pan with nonstick cooking spray. Set aside.
  • Mix dry ingredients together in a medium-sized bowl. Set aside.
  • In a separate mixing bowl, mash 3 bananas with a fork. Then, mix in the rest of the wet ingredients minus the coconut oil.
  • Slowly add dry ingredients to wet and mix to combine. Then, add in the melted coconut oil and mix again to combine.
  • Pour batter into greased bread pan, sprinkle a few chocolate chips on top, and bake at 350ºF for 45-50 minutes or until the center is fully cooked.
  • Remove banana bread from oven, let cool for 10 minutes, and remove from pan to finish cooling.

1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
3 ripe bananas, mashed
1 tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, or to taste
½ cup butter, softened
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan, preferably glass.
  • Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl. Stir bananas, milk, and cinnamon in another bowl. Beat butter and sugar in a third bowl until light and fluffy. Add eggs to butter mixture, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir banana mixture into butter mixture. Stir in dry mixture until blended. Fold in chocolate chips until just combined. Pour batter into prepared loaf pan.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 70 minutes. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing to cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 large egg
2 large egg whites
1 1/3 cups sugar
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/3 cup plain nonfat yogurt
1 1/4 cups bananas, ripe and mashed, about 3
3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Steps:

  • Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in bowl. Set aside.
  • Beat egg and 2 egg whites with sugar and oil with an electric mixer until smooth.
  • Add the yogurt and bananas and beat again.
  • Stir in the flour mixture and chocolate chips by hand until just combined.
  • Pour into a 9x5 loaf pan that's been sprayed with cooking spray.
  • Bake for about 1 hour and 15-20 minutes at 350 degrees or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the loaf comes out clean. The crust may crack.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350˚F (180˚C).
  • In a bowl, add the bananas and mash until smooth. Add in the melted butter and stir until well combined.
  • Add the sugar, egg, vanilla, baking soda, salt, and flour, and stir until the batter is smooth.
  • Add in the chocolate chips and pour the batter into a greased loaf pan. Top with additional chocolate chips.
