I am famous for my cookie plates every Christmas. I am always looking for different cookie recipes. This one adds a chocolate twist to the traditional snickerdoodle recipe.

Steps:
- In large bowl, cream butter and 1 1/2 cups of sugar.
- Add eggs and vanilla, beat until smooth.
- Combine dry ingredients (except 3/4 tsp cinnamon) Add dry to creamed, stir.
- Combine remaining sugar and cinnamon in small bowl.
- Roll cookie dough into 1-inch balls, roll in sugar mixture.
- Bake on lightly greased cookie sheets at 375° for 6-8 minutes.
- Cool on wire racks.
COCONUT JOYS
We always made these for our Christmas Cookie plates. They are similar to the popular Mounds candy but the unsweetened chocolate gives it a bit more kick. You'll want to use REAL butter and not margarine or chefs spread and the quantity of candies you get will depend on how large you make them.

Steps:
- In large saucepan melt one stick of butter.
- Add sugar and coconut to butter mixing until well blended.
- form balls of dough appx 1-2 teaspoons making thumbprint wells into middle of balls.
- Melt unsweetened chocolate in microwave safe bowl appx 1-2 minutes stirring occasionally.
- Pour melted chocolate into wells.
- Chill until chocolate is firm.

CHOCOLATE SNICKERDOODLES
This chocolate snickerdoodle recipe is similar to a basic snickerdoodle recipe but some of the flour is replaced with cocoa powder.

Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
- Mix together 1 1/2 cups white sugar, shortening, and eggs with an electric mixer in a bowl until creamy.
- Sift together all-purpose flour, cocoa power, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl. Fold this mixture into the egg mixture until well blended.
- Mix together 1/4 cup white sugar and cinnamon in a shallow bowl or on a plate.
- Roll cookie dough into 1-inch balls; cover each in sugar and cinnamon mixture. Place on an ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven until soft and golden on top, 6 to 8 minutes, making sure they do not burn. Let cool before transferring to a wire rack. The tops will crack as they cool.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 375ºF.
- In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs.
- Gradually add flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt until well mixed.
- Stir in mini-chips and set aside.
- In a small bowl. mix the topping sugar and cinnamon together.
- Shape dough into 1-inch balls and roll in coating mixture.
- Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets; flatten with a fork (use a rocking motion).
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until set.
- Place on wire racks to cool.

- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease.
- Beat 1 1/2 cups white sugar, butter, and eggs together in a bowl using an electric mixer until smooth and creamy. Combine flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl; stir into creamed butter mixture until dough holds together.
- Mix 2 tablespoons white sugar and cinnamon together in a bowl.
- Form dough into 2-teaspoon-size balls and roll in the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Place dough balls, about 2 inches apart, on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven on the center rack for 7 minutes. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
