This recipe came from a friend at Holloman AFB in New Mexico many many Many years ago. Have adjusted it a little over the years and I now use whole wheat flour and a Lite Soy Sauce but the flavor remains the same.

1 1/2 lbs round steaks, cut into thin strips
1/3 cup flour
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 (16 ounce) can tomatoes
1 onion, cut into rings
2 green bell peppers, cut into strips
3 tablespoons light soy sauce
1 garlic clove, smashed
4 green onions, sliced
1 teaspoon sugar (optional)
1 teaspoon salt (optional)
1 cup bean sprouts (optional)

Steps:

  • Put steak, flour, pepper in Crock-Pot. Stir until well coated.
  • Add remaining ingredients.
  • Cover and cook on Low 8 hours.
  • (High for 4 hours).
  • Remove cover to thicken.
  • Serve over Noodles or Rice.

1 large onion
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 lb top sirloin steaks (cubed) or 1 lb cube steak
ground pepper
garlic salt
2 cups beef broth
1 (1 1/2 ounce) package beefy onion soup mix
28 ounces diced tomatoes
1 tablespoon five-spice powder

Steps:

  • Slice onion and put on bottom of crock pot.
  • Season the steak with pepper and garlic salt.
  • Heat the oil in a skillet and lightly brown the steak.
  • When done, place steak on onions in crock pot.
  • In a bowl, combine the remaining ingredients.
  • Pour over top of steak.
  • Cook 4-6 hours depending on your Crock pot or until steak is tender.
  • Serve over noodles or rice.
