CHINESE CHEWS I
Made in a shallow cookie pan and cut into squares then rolled and tossed in confectioner's sugar. Chewy and wonderful!

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C).
- Mix dry ingredients except confectioner's sugar. Add nuts and dates.
- Then add eggs which have been lightly beaten. Mix well.
- Press mixture into ungreased cookie sheet as thin as possible. Bake for 15-20 minutes.
- Cut into 1 -2 inch squares while hot. Roll into balls as soon as the squares are cool enough to handle then roll in confectioner's sugar. Allow to cool completely before eating.

This is a heavenly cookie. We cant stop eating them. Not sure where the recipe first came from , I got it freom our church cookbook.

Steps:
- Sift dry ingredients into a mixing bowl.
- Stir in dates and nuts.
- Add eggs.
- Mix thoroughly and spread into a greased 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 inch cookie sheet.
- Bake at 375 for about 20 minutes.
- Cut into squares or finger lengths.
- Remove to a cooling rack and roll in confex sugar if desired (I DO).

- Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, nuts, dates, raisins, and coconut. Mix well. Add the flour and beat until blended. Bake in a wax-paper-lined 8x8x2 inch baking pan in a moderate oven, 350*, for 40 minutes. While still warm, cut into 2- inch squares.

CHINESE CHEWIES
I make these every Christmas for a cookie exchange. Super easy and oh so good! My grown children and grandchildren always ask when I will be making them. Sometimes I add raisins- very good both ways.

Steps:
- 1. Put both bags of chips in a large pot or dutch oven over the lowest setting* on your stove. Stir with a wooden spoon until the chips have melted. *very important or the chocolate may burn!
- 2. Remove from heat and add the chow mein noodles and break some up with your spoon. Add the peanuts and mix again.
- 3. Drop tablespoons of the mixture onto large sheets of wax paper spread out on your counter. When the chocolate hardens you can remove and store in plastic containers. Use the wax paper to put on top of each layer when stacking them.

Steps:
- Mix together, 1/2 cup butter, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1 cup flour spread into 9x10 baking pan press down bake at 350°F for 10 minutes.
- Mix together, 1 cup brown sugar, 2 eggs, 1 tsp vanilla, 1/2 tsp baking powder, 1 cup coconut, 1 cup walnuts; spread over first layer bake at 350°F for 20 minutes.
