Barb Gustison of Quincy, Illinois writes, "I remember my mother making chili mix in place of cookies for bake sales. Everyone loved it! It's also great for a snack at home, or to have on trips and at parties."

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 package (16 ounces) corn chips
1 can (11-1/2 ounces) mixed nuts
1 package (11 ounces) pretzel sticks
1 package (6.6 ounces) Goldfish cheddar crackers
1 cup butter, cubed
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, combine corn chips, nuts, pretzels and crackers. In a small saucepan, bring butter, brown sugar, garlic powder and chili powder to a boil. Remove from heat; stir in baking soda. Pour over snack mixture and toss to coat. , Transfer to three greased 15x10x1-in. baking pans. Bake 10-12 minutes or until lightly toasted. Cool completely on wire racks. Store in airtight containers.

1 1/2 cups Corn Chex
1 1/2 cups Wheat Chex
1 1/2 cups Rice Chex
2 cups oyster crackers
2 cups pretzel twists
1 cup pistachio nut
4 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
1/4 cup melted butter
1 (1 ounce) package dry ranch dressing mix
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 250°F.
  • In a large bowl combine the cereal, oyster crackers, pretzels, pistachios and cheese.
  • In a small bowl combine the butter, salad dressing mix, and garlic powder.
  • Drizzle over the cereal mix, tossing to lightly coat mixture.
  • Place on a cookie or baking sheet and bake for 30 minutes.
  • Remove and let cool completely before packing in jars.

CHILI-GARLIC SNACK MIX



Chili-Garlic Snack Mix image

Number Of Ingredients 11

2 tablespoons popcorn kernels
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 cups Chex (or other cereal squares)
2 cups Cheez-It crackers (or other mini cheddar crackers)
1 cup mini pretzel twists
1 cup smoked almonds
6 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Kosher salt

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Heat 3 popcorn kernels and the vegetable oil in a large saucepan over medium heat until 1 kernel pops; add the remaining kernels, cover and cook, shaking the pan occasionally, until the popping subsides. Remove from the heat and transfer to a large bowl.
  • Add the cereal, crackers, pretzels and almonds; toss to combine. Melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir in the chili powder, paprika and garlic powder. Drizzle over the popcorn mixture and toss with a rubber spatula to coat; season with salt.
  • Spread the snack mix on the prepared baking sheet. Bake, stirring once or twice, until lightly toasted, about 10 minutes. Let cool completely. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
