1 cup butter, softened
1 cup confectioners' sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons maraschino cherry juice
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
6 drops red food coloring, optional
2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup chopped maraschino cherries
54 milk chocolate kisses, unwrapped

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, beat butter, confectioners' sugar and salt until blended. Beat in cherry juice, extract and, if desired, food coloring. Gradually beat in flour. Stir in cherries., Shape dough into 1-in. balls. Place 1 in. apart on greased baking sheets. , Bake 8-10 minutes or until bottoms are light brown. Immediately press a chocolate kiss into center of each cookie (cookie will crack around edges). Cool on pans 2 minutes. Remove to wire racks to cool.

1 roll (16.5 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Sugar Cookie Dough
3/4 cup chopped macadamia nuts
3/4 cup coarsely chopped dried tart cherries
1 bag (7 oz) sweetened flaked coconut (about 2 1/2 cups)
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 cup red tart cherry preserves

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F. Line large cookie sheets with parchment paper. Let cookie dough stand at room temperature for 10 minutes to soften.
  • In medium bowl, break up cookie dough. Add nuts, cherries, coconut and vanilla. Mix with wooden spoon or knead with hands until well blended. Shape rounded tablespoonfuls of dough into balls. Place 2 inches apart on cookie sheets.
  • Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until edges are light golden brown. Cool 3 minutes. With back of teaspoon, make indentation in center of each cookie. Spoon 1 teaspoon preserves in each indentation. Cool completely, about 20 minutes. Store in covered container.

1 1/2 cups sugar
1 1/3 cups shortening
2 eggs
1 teaspoon almond extract
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups flaked coconut
1 cup of drained maraschino cherry, chopped

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • In a mixing bowl, cream sugar and shortening together.
  • Add eggs and almond extract and mix well.
  • Combine flour, soda, powder and salt and gradually add to creamed mixture.
  • Stir in coconut and cherries, this will take a bit because the dough is very stiff.
  • Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto greased or non stick cookie sheets.
  • Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until light golden brown.
  • Cool on racks.

1 cup powdered sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons maraschino cherry juice
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup chopped maraschino cherry
48 Hershey cherry cordial chocolate kisses
granulated sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees. In a mixing bowl beat butter for 30 seconds on med-high speed. Add powdered sugar and salt beating until combined (scrape sides of bowl). Beat in the cherry liquid and almond extract. Beat in as much flour as you can then use a spoon to mix any remaining flour and the chopped cherries.
  • Roll dough into 1 inch balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. Using the bottom of a glass dipped in granulated sugar, flatten the balls until they are about 1/2 inch thick. Bake 14 minutes or until bottoms are light brown. Right away place a chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie then transfer to a wire rack to cool.

2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon table salt
2/3 cups butter, softened
6 ounce cream cheese, softened
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
2 egg yolks
1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon juice from a fresh orange
10 cups sweetened flaked coconut, divided in to 6 cup and 4 cup portions
1 bag hershey kisses

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl, sift flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside. In the bowl of an electric mixer, beat the butter, cream cheese, and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg yolks, vanilla and orange juice and beat till smooth. In 1 cup increments, mix flour in to the butter mixture. Add the 6 cups flaked coconut and beat to combine. Refrigerate dough for 1 hour. While dough is chilling, remove wrappers from the Kisses. Preheat oven to 350. One at a time, scoop dough into 1.5" balls (about the size of a large walnut, roll between your palms, then roll in the bowl of remaining coconut (4 cups). Arrange on an ungreased baking sheet, at least an inch apart (cookies will spread slightly). A standard cookie sheet should accommodate a dozen cookies at a time. Bake 12-14 minutes, until the cookies puff and are very lightly browned. Remove from oven. Immediately press one Kiss into each cookie. Return pan to oven and bake for an additional minute. Remove pan from oven and cool on a rack for 10 minutes. With a thin spatula, gently move cookies on to a rack to finish cooling.

2/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup dried cherries, finely chopped
Finely grated zest of 1/2 orange
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
2 large egg whites, lightly beaten
1/2 teaspoon fine salt
3 cups (about 8 ounces) finely shredded unsweetened coconut

Steps:

  • Arrange the oven racks in the upper and lower thirds of the oven and preheat to 350 F. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment.
  • Whisk together the sugar, cherries, orange zest, vanilla, egg whites and salt. Add the coconut and toss until completely coated. Spoon heaping tablespoons of the batter onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 1-inch between each. Moisten your fingertips with water and shape each macaroon into a tall and rounded mound or pointed pyramid.

1 teaspoon almond extract

1 cup maraschino cherries, chopped

Steps:

4 large egg whites
1-1/4 cups sugar
1/3 cup chopped walnuts
1/3 cup chopped pitted dates
1/3 cup chopped candied cherries

Steps:

  • Place egg whites in a large bowl; let stand at room temperature for 30 minutes. Beat on medium speed until soft peaks form. Gradually beat in sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, on high until stiff glossy peaks form and the sugar is dissolved. 3 ounces cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg yolk
2 teaspoons almond extract
2 teaspoons orange juice
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
5 cups sweetened flaked coconut, divided
1 (10 ounce) bag Hershey chocolate kisses

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, beat the butter, cream cheese and sugar.
  • Blend well, then add egg yolk, almond extract and orange juice; beat mixture well.
  • Stir together the flour, baking powder and salt.
  • Gradually add to the butter mixture and beat until well blended.
  • Stir in 3 cups of the coconut; cover mixture and chill for 1 hour, or until firm to handle.
  • Unwrap the kisses while chilling and heat oven to 350°.
  • Form dough into 1-inch balls; roll them in remaining coconut.
  • Place them on a ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes until lightly browned.
  • Remove from the oven and quickly press a kiss into each center.

3 c fast and festive cookie mix
1 c coconut
1/3 c finely chopped maraschino cherries, well drained
2 tsp almond extract
1 large egg
36 chocolate candy kisses

Steps:

  • 1. Grease cookie sheets. In large bowl combine cookie mix, coconut, cherries, almond extract and egg. Mix at low speed until well blended and dough forms. Cover with plastic wrap and chill for a minimum of 1 hour.
  • 2. Heat the oven to 375 degrees F. Shape the dough into 1" balls and place them 2" apart on the cookie sheet. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until set and the edges are light golden brown.
  • 3. Immediately press a chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie. Remove the cookies from the cookie sheet and cool complete on racks. Makes 3 dozen cookies.
