1-1/2 cups unsalted butter, softened
2-1/4 cups packed brown sugar
5 large eggs, room temperature
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup sour cream
GLAZE:
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/4 cup chopped pecans
1 cup confectioners' sugar
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Dash salt
2 to 3 tablespoons half-and-half cream

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. Grease and flour a 10-in. fluted tube pan., Cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy, 5-7 minutes. Add 1 egg at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla. In another bowl, whisk flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with sour cream, beating after each addition just until combined., Transfer to prepared pan. Bake until a toothpick inserted near center comes out clean, 55-65 minutes. Cool in pan 10 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely., For glaze, combine butter and pecans in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly, until butter is light golden brown, 4-5 minutes. Stir into confectioners' sugar. Add vanilla, salt and enough cream to reach a drizzling consistency. Drizzle glaze over cake, allowing some to drip down sides. Let stand until set.

2 cups light brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
1 ½ cups butter
5 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup milk
3 cups all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon baking powder
1 cup chopped pecans

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease and flour a 10 inch tube pan. Mix together the flour and baking powder; set aside.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar and white sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Beat in the flour mixture alternately with the milk, mixing just until incorporated. Sir in the chopped pecans. Pour batter into prepared pan.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 60 to 75 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely.

1 cup butter, softened
2 cups dark brown sugar, packed
1 cup granulated sugar
6 large eggs
3 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup milk
2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 cup whipping cream
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons light corn syrup
3 tablespoons rum or 1 tablespoon rum flavoring
1/3 cup butter
3 tablespoons canned evaporated milk
3/4 cup dark brown sugar (packed)
1 tablespoon rum flavoring

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325 Grease and flour a 10" tube pan Cream butter and sugars until very light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each.
  • Combine dry Add alternately with milk&vanilla starting adn ending with dry.
  • Beat well with each addition Fill prepared pan and bake for 1 hour and 35-40 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean.
  • Cool completely, remove from pan.
  • Serve with sauce or glaze Rum sauce: Combine everything in a heavy saucepan.
  • Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  • Cover and continue to boil for 1 minute to wash crystals down side of pan.
  • Uncover and continue to boil for 3-4 minutes.
  • Let cool slightly.
  • Serve over slices of cake.
  • Rum Glaze Put all in a small heavy pan.
  • Let it cook, stirring occasionally til mixed well.
  • I let it cook a couple more minutes until it was thickened.
  • Pour over top of cake.

3 cups sifted all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
8 ounces (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
2 1/4 cups packed light-brown sugar
4 large eggs, room temperature
3/4 cup buttermilk
Brown-Butter Glaze

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Line standard muffin tins with paper liners. Whisk dry ingredients in a large bowl. Cream butter and sugar with a mixer until light and fluffy. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating after each addition.
  • Reduce speed to low. Add dry ingredients to butter mixture in 3 additions, alternating with buttermilk and ending with dry. Scrape sides of bowl. Divide batter among muffin cups, filling each 3/4 full.
  • Bake cupcakes until testers inserted into centers come out clean, 25 minutes. Let cool in tins on wire racks. (Unglazed cupcakes will keep, covered, for up to 3 days.) Set racks with cupcakes over parchment-lined baking sheets. Spoon glaze over tops, and let stand until set. Serve glazed cupcakes immediately.

This is a very moist pound cake, It has a light brown sugar flavor I double my brown sugar glaze recipe, I poke a few holes in the bottom of the cake and pour a small amount over it , let it soak in before I invert it on to a plate, then I drizzle with more glaze and save the left over glaze to add just a touch more to each slice...

2 c dark brown sugar
1 c white granulated sugar
1 c butter
6 large eggs
1 Tbsp vanilla extract
3 c cake flour
1/4 tsp salt
8 oz sour cream
1/2 tsp baking soda

Steps:

  • 1. Grease and flour a Bundt cake pan or tube cake pan. Heat oven to 325°.
  • 2. Cream sugars and butter until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, one at time, beating well after each addition.Beat in vanilla.
  • 3. Sift together the cake flour and salt.
  • 4. In a cup combine the sour cream and baking soda
  • 5. Blend dry ingredients into the creamed mixture a little at a time, alternating additions with the sour cream and baking soda mixture, ending with the flour mixture.
  • 6. Spoon the batter into the prepared baking pan. Bake for 1 hour and 20 minutes, or until a cake tester or wooden pick comes out clean when inserted in the center of the cake. Cool in pan on rack for 10-15 minutes, invert onto plate and let cool completely.

  • 8. Brown sugar Glaze. 1/3 cup butter 1/3 cup light brown sugar 1/3 cup white granulated sugar 1/3 cup whipping cream 1 tsp of vanilla combine the first four ingredients, in a heavy sauce pan, over med heat bring to a boil stirring constantly, boil 1 minute remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
