'THINGS GO BETTER WITH COKE' BRISKET
What goes better with latkes than brisket? A brisket is a delicatessen style roast of beef that takes well to braising in liquid and slow cooking. If your regular supermarket doesn't sell brisket, ask your butcher to prepare one for you, or try a kosher meat market.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350 F degrees.
- Place meat in a large roasting pan and cover with oil on all sides.
- Sprinkle on onions and celery.
- Season with salt, pepper and paprika.
- Place crushed garlic on top.
- Mix ketchup with hot water, onion soup powder and dry spaghetti mix to dissolve dry ingredients.
- Add cola and pour mixture over meat.
- Roast 2 1/2- 3 hours, covered with foil, opening to baste every 20-30 minutes.
- Serve sliced when done, or slice entire brisket and reheat in gravy next day (30 minutes in a 350 F. oven for extra tender slices).
COCA-COLA BRISKET
This brisket is fantastic! So tender! I've been eating or making it for 30 years and is a family favorite. It freezes well and makes awesome hot sandwiches if leftover.

Steps:
- Season brisket with garlic powder, salt and pepper.
- Mix ketchup, Worcestershire Sauce, and Kitchen Bouquet and spread over beef.
- Place in covered roaster and cover with onion slices, then coca-cola.
- Cover and roast at 350°F until almost done, about 3 hours.
- Remove meat and slice.
- Thicken gravy with cornstarch (about 2 tbs in 1/4 cup cold water) and adjust seasonings.
- Return meat to gravy and continue cooking 1 hour.
- Serve over mashed potatoes or rice.
- This can also be prepared using a crockpot. Use same ingredients and cook according to your crockpot manufacturers directions for roasting meat.

COKE BRISKET

- Spray a large roasting pan with non-stick spray. Place onions in pan; place brisket on top of onions. Rub meat on all sides with garlic, seasonings, jam and lemon juice. Pour cola over and around brisket. Marinate for an hour at room temperature or overnight in the refrigerator.
- 2. Preheat oven to 325°F. Cook covered. Allow 45 minutes per lb. as the cooking time, until meat is fork tender. Uncover meat for the last hour and baste it occasionally. Remove from oven and cool completely. Refrigerate overnight, if possible. Discard hardened fat which congeals on the surface. Slice brisket thinly across the grain, trimming away any fat. Reheat slices in the defatted pan juices.

SOMEONE'S GRANDMA'S BRISKET
From a community cookbook. Sounds easy and yummy with honey, ketchup, mustard powder, onion, paprika, red wine and coke! Imagine that! I love brisket so I can't wait to try this one. Best if marinated overnight.

Steps:
- Put the oil, coke, wine, honey, ketchup, mustard, onion and paprika in a food processor or blender and "chop" mixture.
- Pour over the brisket.
- Marinate overnight if you have time.
- Cook in a roasting pan with the liquid, at 350 degrees F., loosely covered, until fork tender (approximately 4 hours).
- When brisket is cool, slice meat against the grain, and return to the pan with the gravy.
- Reheat when ready to serve.
- To make the gravy thicker, you can pour the pan juices into a saucepan.
- Add 1 tablespoons flour and let cook until half the liquid is reduced.
- Pour over sliced meat and serve.

BRANDY'S COKE BRISKET
Super easy and has lots of leftovers for sandwiches. Reseve the siquid to thicken to make a sauce. I buy a trimmed Brisket and place fat side up.

- 1. Season meat with Salt/pepper and garlic. Place in roaster and mix coke and chili sauce together. Rub the onion soup over the meat. Pour coke mixture over meat. Place foil over the meat to seal tightly. Bake low and slow 30 min. per pound at 325.
