Whiskey Peach Barbecue Sauce is a tingly, sweet, flavor punch for your mouth.

1 cup ketchup
3/4 cup peach preserves
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup whiskey
2 Tablespoons molasses
2 Tablespoons Hey Grill Hey's Sweet BBQ Rub (link in recipe notes)

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil, stirring frequently. Reduce the heat to a simmer and cook for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent anything from sticking to the bottom of the pan.
  • Cool completely and transfer to an airtight container. Refrigerate overnight for the best flavor and then use liberally on grilled or smoked chicken, pork, and fish.

This came to my inbox from McCormick and I just had to share it! They recommend using the barbecue sauce on grilled pork tenderloin. I think it would be fabulous on any grilled meat or seafood, so I modified the recipe to make it more flexible. I plan on trying it with either chicken breasts or salmon.

2 (2 lb) other meat or 2 (2 lb) seafood, of your choice
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 tablespoon Old Bay Seasoning
1 tablespoon chopped fresh garlic
1 cup peach preserves
1/4 cup Bourbon
1/4 cup ketchup
1 1/2 teaspoons Old Bay Seasoning

Steps:

  • Rub pork or other meat with vegetable oil, then season with 1 tablespoon Old Bay and garlic. A milder meat, such as chicken, may need less seasoning, so I would recommend using your discretion.
  • Heat grill to medium.
  • Combine preserves, bourbon, ketchup and 1 1/2 teaspoons Old Bay in a small bowl.
  • Grill meat over medium heat until done. For the pork this would be about 25-30 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 160°F.
  • Brush with sauce during the last 2 minutes of cooking.
  • Serve with remaining sauce.

1 pound peaches, pitted and diced
1 cup water, plus more if needed
2/3 cup bourbon
3 cups Five-Ingredient Barbecue Sauce

Steps:

  • Bring peaches and 1/2 cup water to a simmer in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Reduce heat to medium-low, and cook until peaches are breaking down, 15 to 20 minutes. (If peaches get too dry, add more water, 2 tablespoons at a time, to prevent peaches from sticking and burning.)
  • Remove from heat, and add bourbon. Return to medium heat, and simmer for 5 minutes. Add barbecue sauce, and simmer for 5 more minutes.
  • Puree mixture in a blender. With blender running, slowly add remaining 1/2 cup water. Blend until mixture is smooth. Let cool, and refrigerate.

2 Tbsp unsalted butter
2 Tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
2 c vidalia onion, chopped
1 Tbsp garlic, minced
2 c fresh peaches, peeled and chopped
1 c bourbon
2 small chipotle chili peppers in adobo, seeds removed
1 c water
4 c ketchup
1/2 c dark molasses
1/2 c apple cider vinegar
1/4 c dijon mustard
1/4 c worcestershire sauce
1 Tbsp smoked paprika
2 Tbsp ground ancho chili pepper
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp freshly-ground black pepper

Steps:

  • 1. Heat the butter and oil over medium heat in a 4-quart or larger sauce pan.
  • 2. Add the onions and cook, stirring often, until the onion are translucent, about five minutes.
  • 3. Add the garlic and cook one minute longer.
  • 4. Add the peaches, bourbon and chipotle peppers and cook, stirring often, until the bourbon has almost completely cooked out, about ten minutes.
  • 5. Pour the mixture along with the water into a blender and blend until smooth.
  • 6. Pour the mixture back into the sauce pan and lower the heat to low.
  • 7. Add the remaining ingredients, cover and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring often to keep the sauce from sticking and burning.

This chicken is oven-baked and has a homemade BBQ sauce. The secret to completing this in under 30 minutes is to start by cooking the chicken in the oven and then finishing it by broiling. The BBQ sauce requires only a handful of common kitchen ingredients.

1 cup ketchup
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup bourbon (such as Four Roses®)
¼ cup peach preserves
3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon Montreal steak seasoning (such as McCormick®)
½ teaspoon liquid smoke flavoring
1 pound skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Combine ketchup, brown sugar, bourbon, peach preserves, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, steak seasoning, and liquid smoke flavoring in a saucepan over medium high heat. Bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes. Reserve half the sauce for later use.
  • Place chicken on a sheet pan or broiling tray and brush sauce onto the chicken with a basting brush.
  • Bake chicken in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, then flip chicken breasts over and baste with reserved sauce.
  • Set an oven rack about 6 inches from the heat source and turn on the oven's broiler.
  • Broil chicken and continue to baste and flip the chicken every 3 minutes until chicken is no longer pink in the center and the juices run clear, 10 to 15 minutes total. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).
