Swiss Cheese Bread with Beau Monde Seasoning image

Now that you have made your Beau Monde seasoning here is a great way to use it.

1 loaf french bread
12 slice swiss cheese
1 lb butter (softened) yes! 1 pound
1 Tbsp onion, grated
1 tsp mustard, prepared
2 tsp lemon juice, fresh
1 tsp poppy seeds
1 Tbsp beau monde seasoning

Steps:

  • 1. Slice french bread on the diagonal, 3/4 of the way through the bread. Make sure that you do not cut all the way through the bottom of the bread.
  • 2. Place one slice of cheese in each slice of bread.
  • 3. Mix remaining ingredients together and spread evenly over top of bread.
  • 4. Wrap loaf in foil and bake at 325-degrees for 25-30 minutes. Serve and Enjoy!

1 loaf French bread
1 cup melted butter
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup poppy seed
1 lb swiss cheese, sliced

Steps:

  • Cut loaf of French bread into 10 slices, 3/4 of the way through.
  • Insert slices of Swiss Cheese between each of the bread slices.
  • Saute onion in butter until transparent, not brown.
  • Add poppy seed to butter.
  • Spoon butter/onion/poppy seed mixture between the slices of bread and cheese.
  • Wrap in foil.
  • Bake at 300 degrees until the cheese melts and the bread is hot throughout, about 20-25 minutes.

2 packages (1/4 ounce each) active dry yeast
2-3/4 cups warm water (110° to 115°), divided
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup honey or molasses
1 tablespoon salt
2 teaspoons dill weed
2 teaspoons dried thyme
2 teaspoons dried basil
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 large egg, room temperature, beaten
4 cups whole wheat flour
4 to 4-1/2 cups all-purpose flour

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup warm water. Add the oil, honey, salt, seasonings, egg, whole wheat flour and remaining water. Beat until smooth. Stir in enough all-purpose flour to form a soft dough. , Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour. , Punch dough down. Turn onto a lightly floured surface; divide into 6 portions. Divide each into 24 pieces. Shape each into a 1-in. ball; place 3 balls in each greased muffin cup. Cover and let rise until doubled, 20-25 minutes., Bake at 375° for 12-15 minutes or until tops are golden brown. Remove from pans to wire racks.

1 cup warm water
2 tablespoons honey
2 1/4 teaspoons bread machine yeast
2 tablespoons room temperature butter
2 tablespoons oil
2 1/2 cups white bread flour
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1 1/2 teaspoons salt

Steps:

  • Place the water into the bread pan. Spoon in honey then the yeast over the water; allow the yeast to foam for 10 minutes.
  • Add oil, butter. Add in flour and salt. Select the dough setting and press start. Remove from machine; cover and let rest 10 minutes.
  • Shape into loaves or a boule or a batard; cover with cloth. Place in oven that was turned on to 200* and turned off. Leave the door open first 5 minutes. Let rise 25 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and set it to 400*; slash you loaves 2-3 times. When ready place bread inside for 10 minutes; reduce to 350* for 20 minutes. Spray with water a couple of time at beginning of baking. Instant thermometer reads 200*, it's done.

The recipe is only for the bread, but you could easily add some ham to it to make a great sandwich.

1 french bread loaf
1 pkg swiss cheese
1/2 c butter
2 Tbsp minced onion
1 Tbsp dutch mustard or grey poupon
2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
2 Tbsp poppy seed
1/2 tsp season salt

Steps:

  • 1. Cut a piece of aluminum foil large enough to hold the French bread loaf and a couple inches extra on each end.
  • 2. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.
  • 3. With a serrated knife, slice the bread diagonally in 1-inch slices.
  • 4. Place the bread in the middle of the aluminum foil.
  • 5. Insert half of a Swiss cheese slice between each slice of bread.
  • 6. Melt the butter in a saucepan. Turn the heat to low.
  • 7. To the butter, add the minced onion, mustard, lemon juice, poppy seed and season salt.
  • 8. Remove the saucepan from the stove, and pour a little bit of the mixture between each slice.
  • 9. At this point, if you wanted to turn this into a sandwich, you would place a piece of deli ham between each slice of bread.
  • 10. Wrap the aluminum foil around the bread, but do not cover it completely.
  • 11. Bake for 30 minutes.
  • 12. Remove the bread from the oven and serve immediately. This bread is addictive!

2-1/4 cups sugar
1 cup plus 2 tablespoons canola oil
3 eggs
3 tablespoons poppy seeds
1-1/2 teaspoons lemon juice
1-1/2 teaspoons almond extract
1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1-1/2 cups 2% milk
GLAZE:
3/4 cup confectioners' sugar
1/4 cup orange juice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon almond extract

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the sugar, oil, eggs, poppy seeds, lemon juice and extracts; beat until well blended. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt; add to sugar mixture alternately with milk, beating just until moistened. , Pour into two greased 8x4-in. loaf pans. 4 cups flour
Pinch of salt
2 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons dried yeast
6 ounces milk
1 lemon, zested
4 tablespoons of butter
4 tablespoons butter
4 ounces poppy seed
2 ounces honey
1/2 cup golden raisins
1/4 cup orange zest
1/2 cup ground almonds
1 egg yolk
3 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon milk

Steps:

  • Sift the flour, salt, and sugar in a bowl. Stir in the yeast and make a well. Heat the milk and lemon in a pan with the butter. Let mixture cool and then mix with dry ingredients. Knead the dough mixture until smooth and elastic and cover in a bowl. Let rise in warm place until it doubles in size. While the dough is rising get started on the filling. Melt butter in a medium sized pan and add all the poppy seeds except for 1 tablespoon. Add the honey, raisins and zest. Cook on low for 5 minutes and remove from heat, add the almonds and let cool. Cream the egg yolk and sugar together, and fold into poppy seed mixture. Begin to roll out dough on a floured surface into a 12 by 12-inch square. Roll dough to 1/8-inch thick. Spread your filling to within 1-inch of the edge of the dough. Roll both ends towards the center. Brush with olive oil and cover with plastic wrap and let rise for 1 hour. Brush with milk and sprinkle with remaining poppy seeds. Bake in a preheated 375 degree oven for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
