I bought my Cuisinart back in 1983. This is the very first recipe I made in it, and have made it many times since.

1/4 cup toasted pecans
1/2 lb cream cheese, cut into 1-inch cubes
2 tablespoons blue cheese

Steps:

  • Place nuts in food processor and process until finely chopped; it takes about 10 seconds.
  • Add both cheeses.
  • Process until very smooth; again, it should only take about 10 seconds.
  • Pack into a bowl and refrigerate until serving; this is best if allowed to chill for a few hours.
  • A dribble of brandy or port added when you add the cheeses doesn't hurt.

Serve these warm and delicious crostini at your next party! Just 4 simple ingredients! This recipe is for 12 crostini, but scales easily for as many as you need.

12 slices baguette (1/2-inch thick)
1/4 cup olive oil (or more for drizzling)
4 ounces blue cheese (crumbled)
2 ounces pecans (coarsely chopped)
12 whole pecans
1/2 cup honey

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  • Arrange baguette slices in a single layer on a baking sheet. Drizzle slices with olive oil and bake for 8-10 minutes, until golden brown. Set aside until cool enough to handle.
  • Turn oven on to broil.
  • In a medium bowl stir together blue cheese and pecans. Scoop mixture on to each crostini evenly. Broil 1 minute.
  • Top each crostini with a whole pecan. Drizzle each with about 2 teaspoons of honey. Serve warm.

1 cup chopped pecans
2 tablespoons butter
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
2 (4 ounce) packages blue cheese
1 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
1 tablespoon butter, melted

Steps:

  • Toast pecans in 2 T butter in a skillet over medium heat, stirring constantly. Remove pecans from heat; cool.
  • Position knife blade in food processor bowl; add cheeses. Process until smooth; stopping once to scrape down side.
  • Stir in pecans. Spoon mixture into a greased 1 1/2 quart baking dish.
  • Combine breadcrumbs, parsley and 1 T melted butter; sprinkle crumb mixture over cheese mixture. Bake, uncovered at 350°F for 20 minutes. Serve warm.

1 8-ounce package cream cheese, room temperature
2 cups purchased refrigerated blue cheese dressing
1 1/3 cups chopped pecans, toasted
1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese (about 4 ounces)
Assorted cut-up fresh vegetables and fruits (such as carrots, bell peppers, celery, broccoli, apples and small clusters of grapes)

Steps:

  • Beat cream cheese in medium bowl until smooth. Beat in dressing. Stir in 1 cup pecans and crumbled blue cheese. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Transfer dip to decorative bowl. Sprinkle remaining pecans around edges of dip. (Can be made 1 day ahead. Cover and chill.)
  • Set dip in center of platter. Surround with cut-up vegetables and fruits; serve.
