3 blood oranges, juiced
2 fluid ounces vodka
½ fluid ounce orange-flavored liqueur (such as Cointreau®), or to taste
1 teaspoon orange juice, or to taste
1 lime wedge

Steps:

  • Place ice cubes in a cocktail shaker; top with blood orange juice, vodka, and orange-flavored liqueur. Cover shaker and shake; strain drink into a martini glass. Top drink with orange juice and garnish with lime wedge.

  • For the simple syrup: Combine the sugar, vanilla bean and 2 cups water in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring, until the sugar melts. Remove from the heat and let cool. Cover and refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.

3 ounces Hangar One Mandarin Blossom vodka
1/2 small blood orange, sliced, plus 1 thin slice for garnish, divided
1 ounce Cointreau
Juice of 1 lime
Juice of 1/2 lemon
Juice of 1/2 small orange (regular, not blood orange)
1 drop Angostura bitters

Steps:

  • 1. Pour the vodka into a pint glass, add the one-half sliced blood orange and muddle it but not too much, about 6 times with a spoon. Add the Cointreau, and chill in the freezer about 15 minutes, then remove from freezer and discard orange slices. 2. Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice. Add the lime, lemon and orange juices and the drop of bitters. Shake hard for 8 seconds or until cloudy. 3. Strain into the pint glass with the chilled vodka mixture. Stir well (don't shake). Pour (don't strain) into a Martini glass. Float the remaining blood orange slice on top. Each serving: 329 calories; 0 protein; 22 grams carbohydrates; 0 fiber; 0 fat; 0 saturated fat; 0 cholesterol; 4 mg. sodium.
