Steps:

  • Make simple syrup: Bring 1/2 cup each sugar and water to a simmer in a small saucepan, stirring, until dissolved; let cool completely. Combine 1/2 cup blood orange juice and 3 ounces each simple syrup and gin in a liquid measuring cup. Refrigerate until ready to serve. Divide the juice mixture among 8 flutes and top with chilled champagne or sparkling white wine.

Plum-Basil Gin Fizzes image

1/3 cup sugar
1 cup fresh basil, plus more for garnish
4 plums, pitted and sliced
1 cup gin
3 cups seltzer, chilled

Steps:

  • Make the basil syrup: Bring the sugar and 1/3 cup water to a boil in a small saucepan, stirring to dissolve the sugar. Stir in the basil, then remove from the heat and let cool completely, about 1 hour, then strain.
  • Muddle 3 plums in a large liquid measuring cup with a wooden spoon. Stir in the basil syrup and gin. Refrigerate until ready to serve. Pour into ice-filled glasses and top with the seltzer. Garnish with basil and the remaining sliced plum.

2 cups ice cold milk
Whipped cream, from canister, for garnish
4 maraschino cherries, for garnish

Steps:

  • Add the ice cream and milk to a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into glasses and top with whipped cream and a cherry. Serve with a thick straw.
