ORIGINAL BLACK COW

No this is not a root beer float( some people call the root beer float a black cow -not.) My grandmother used to make these for me when I would visit her in the summertime on vacation! This recipe is from 1949.

BASIC BLACK COW (OTHERWISE KNOWN AS COKE FLOAT)

BASIC BLACK COW (Otherwise known as Coke Float) image

I was introduced to these as a very young child and have always loved them. These days I seldom think of making them, but when I do--wow, what a treat! My black cow is made with Coke--not Pepsi, not root beer. Coca Cola, because it has just the right amount of fizz. Photo by: http://www.videojug.com/film/how-to-make-coke-float

Time 5m

Number Of Ingredients 3

1 very tall glass
8 to 10 oz coca cola
3 or 4 scoop(s) vanilla ice cream

Steps:

  • 1. In a tall glass place three or four scoops ice cream, one at a time, alternating with pouring Coke over each scoop. Place a scoop of ice cream, pour a little Coke over it, and repeat until glass is full.
  • 2. Be sure the Coke has been refrigerated and is very cold. This will make little ice crystals on the ice cream and make it all the more yummy! Enjoy!
